So true about Solondz. I’d add Neil LaButte to that list. The ultimate scold. His characters exist only to illustrate just how awful he thinks people are. They’re never fully developed characters, just “types”.

The recent King Kong with Brie Larson was a lot of fun. Totally unexpected. They went way over the top and had a blast.

It was a different time. A time when greed was good, and being good was being a dork. Seriously, the 80s were the worst. Pop culture was all about assholes being assholes and getting away with it.

I like them too.

I thought this came and went already. The trailers looked so incredibly bad. I can’t believe someone bought distribution rights. Unless they paid $1, they’re going to lose money.

I couldn’t get past the first episode but I heard it gets better. I just hate Chris Elliott. Annoying people being annoying isn’t funny to me, that’s why I never liked Jerry Lewis. Anyway, people say it’s really good but I had such a negative to that first episode, like when will this shit end?, that I just can’t go

Ugh, I hope not. That steroid shit has got to stop. I heard two dudes talking about it at the gym recently, like it was a totally normal thing to do and not completely destructive.

He’s so fucking cute. I’d hate to see him get all ‘roided up. That’s not a good look on anyone, not to mention really unhealthy.

You’re right: Ratings matter to NETFLIX, and Netflix only. They have no reason to share how many people watch a show, but OF COURSE it matters to them. They might cancel a show that everyone is watching because it’s too expensive to make, but even that scenario seems unlikely. High ratings = subscribers happy. Low

I feel the same way. Excited about this, but was pretty unimpressed with Get Out. Just saw Stepford Wives (the original) on the big screen recently and ... wow Peele owes a lot to that movie. The original SW is really funny, BTW. I saw it as a kid and didn’t get the humor.

Is he going to depict it, though? Tate was eight months pregnant at the time of the murders but Robbie isn’t even padded a little bit....

Is he going to show the murders? Tate was eight months pregnant when she was killed and she looks pretty un-pregnant in these scenes.

Hot take: MOST shows should be cancelled after season three...four tops. Not many show runners can keep the momentum going, and/or most storylines run out of steam. I LOVE Glow but if it only goes one more season, that’s OK. It’ll go out on top and the people attached can go on to make more awesome things. Honestly, I

Dude, you totally missed the point. She said she was grateful for getting to make so much money back in the day. Making that money and investing it well let her walk away from the industry, which she found stressful. You might find “cookie cutter comedies” easy to make but she didn’t. She’s saying she was lucky, that

This was great. I really appreciate her perspective, i.e. someone who was on the inside and left. More of these, please.

What was the film you liked? Just curious. I saw most of them back in the 90s and honestly I can’t remember one from the other.

Totally. I remember that about his movies and am OK with it in general. I kind of love stilted acting. There’s just something about Tyler Posey and his performance in Teen Wolf that really, really annoyed me. Maybe Araki can pull out something a little more stylized.

Tyler Posey was so bad in the first season of Teen Wolf, I had to stop watching. And that’s saying something! It’s not like the rest of the show was good, but he really stood out. I wonder if he’s gotten any better. I’ll watch this regardless. Sounds like fun.

Oh me too. I’ve got a friend who always ends up with the douchiest dudes--not quite psychos, but dudes who will treat her poorly--and every time it ends badly all she does is talk about how bad the guy was. Never thinks about what she’s doing/why she’s going for these guys. I should say something, because right now

That makes me excited to see it. I really didn’t like CMBYN, the movie or the book, mainly for the reason you mentioned: the characters didn’t feel real, at all. There are other reasons I didn’t care for it, but that was the main one, and it’s a pretty big one.
