Christopher Tolkien died. Two years ago. Pretty sure he’s past giving a shit.

Kinda my point. It’s not Jackson design either so no one is going to go to court over it.

I don’t think Amazon’s lawyers are afraid of the creators of fan art was posted on GeoCities in 1998 coming after them, though.

To be fair Jackson’s Balrog design wasn’t unique.  Plenty of LOTR inspired art looked like what showed up on screen

They should’ve totally have 11-minute long, slow-motion pans over every inch of a tree, taking in its roots, bark, leaves, wood, seeds and flowers that have nothing to do with the story to better convey Tolkien’s writing in cinematic form.

AVClub doesn’t proof read, so fact checking is unlikely.

To be fair, MGM was going through a financial crisis and that delayed hobbit by a year or so. Del toro was rightfully unwilling to hang around new Zealand away from his family for an indefinite time period, so that’s why he left hobbit. Presumably the project would have collapsed if Jackson hadn’t directed.

He’s going to do Seuss next and turn Cat in the Hat into a 27-part miniseries.

Yep, I’ve never seen someone spend more time running around to actively post negative stuff on something they want everyone to pay LESS attention to.

Whipping out those golden wings was a great moment.

Agreed on the ambition part. Not everything worked, but they swung for the fences with bonkers ideas and didn’t once let the audience wonder how ludicrous it was that Egyptian gods are also real and canon in the MCU. NBD. We have Eternals (also, credit for at least trying something different), Asgardians, aliens, etc.

Of all the reasons this site is basically over, actually covering hugely popular Disney+ stuff isn’t one of them.

The site is a shambles now that the old crew left, that I’d agree on. Where you’re wrong is that even a decade ago AV Club recapped and discussed everything Marvel. Because it’s a pop culture site and the MCU became one of the biggest pop culture phenomenon in the western world.

It sounds like you might be happier being somewhere else that caters to your wishes. Like a Burger King.

This is exactly how I felt about it. In general it was fine, but the gravitas of the cast (especially Isaac and Hawke) really carried it.

Moon Knight was a quirky show. Imperfect. Often reminded me of ‘90s and early ‘00s adaptations.

I’ve mentioned this in the comments of the previous episodes, but man I cannot praise enough the work done by Isaac and Hawke in this show. Like those were without a doubt the strongest acting performances in a MCU show so far and are pretty high there for MCU in general. I can see the WandaVision argument, but I feel

ahh because YOU don’t like it, that means everyone that does must lack taste. Yet here you are, commenting on something you don’t like, can’t be any more tasteless than that.
