Here’s my take on what this movie felt like:

I’d like them to not be nugget shaped. Among the reasons I prefer boned fried chicken versus nuggets are the nooks and crannies that improve texture and (since there’s more surface area to season) increase flavor. Chicken fingers are slightly better.

It was just bad luck on Pixar’s part that they had 3 of Disney’s 4 kid movies during the pandemic. Encanto’s theatrical release was in that middle period when it looked like Delta was going down and 5-11 year olds could get vaccinated, and it was still only a month long and it didn’t perform particularly well.
