Hey, I want to like it, but they’re not making it easy.

Wow. Discovery is seriously testing my patience.

It’s a moot point. Babies are already racist.

New urban celebrities... I never learn their names. But John Mulaney is a riot.

Hey, he’s got nothing but respect for his source material.

Yes! This. This has been my complaint about Atwood for years. She is incredibly smug, and that smugness pervades all of her work. It makes for very tedious reading.

Are we talking about genetic black, or racial identity black? I mean, being a woman is not a choice, but ask Caitlyn Jenner and you might get a different perspective...

What is this perpetual obsession with Cuba?

I’m sure anyone that supports reform to the second amendment would prefer to see it done through the correct channels. The problem isn’t the process, it’s the people. The majority has spoken, and they do not give a shit!

Freedom is a lovely sentiment, but we’re not free and never have been. We’re participants in a society, and that society guards certain liberties affords certain protections, but it comes at the expense of freedom. It’s a social contract.

You’re talking about cultural stagnation. I think that’s a valid point; there’s a lot of people who argue (perhaps correctly) that the south actually never recovered from the civil war. Their economy and cultural identity were destroyed and never rebuilt. And so instead of looking to future, they look to the past.

Therein lies the problem with the constitution and its amendments. Our tether to the past is also our anchor, and if we don’t use it judiciously, it might well sink us.

Quite right. Who are we told hold them back? (Or force them forward?)

Yeah. Bend.

The fact that we’re not supposed to say it... is definitely the main reason I love it so much too. It just works.

Fascinating. I had thought they were all gone. But when I read the location, it suddenly all made sense.

I tend to disagree. This sort of socio-political theory is both highly contentious and largely unscientific. It’s a matter of discourse for older students who have the capacity for skepticism and critical reasoning. At this age, it’s tantamount to philosophical (or religious) indoctrination, and it’s perfectly

Well you have a concept. Sadly I don’t think Nora Ephron is free to do the screenplay...

The dull, perpetually dissatisfied white guy?

I somehow doubt that’ll work out any better...
