It’s my birthday!! ITS MY BIRTHDAY! My dad keeps asking me what I want for it, but I don’t really want anything. So - what’s the best gift you’ve either got or given?? I got bose wireless headphones last year that I am obsessed with. Best gift I’ve ever given was a really fancy traveling backgammon set to an at the

This is kind of a lifehacker/Two Cents thing, but I’m curious how many people here have heard about the FIRE movement? It stands for Financial Independence/Retire Early, and really means that you live as frugally as possible now so that you can invest as much of your income (usually according to the

Remembering high school chemistry is sometimes a very high bar!

I will NEVER forget about this because it sums up the shit-for-brains tea-party assholes in one blatantly racist sentiment. Plus, now that the crackhead mayor of Toronto is no longer with us. Paul LePage is the most amusing thing going in elected officials.*

* Well, elected officials I don’t have to fear fucking up my

They impregnate white girls. It’s very upsetting.

I mean, your second sentence is kinda the point. Adults shouldn’t be instructing their kids to say awful shit like that.

Something something Birkenstaahks.

I came here to say if you haven’t read How to Survive a Plague, I highly recommend. I was so riveted by the doc, I was really excited to see the book come out. I’m in awe of the activism and strength of that generation. It’s the masterclass on getting shit done.

I definitely want to see this. I shall.

If you have to ask yourself if whether or not you’re in a cult, then you’re probably in a cult.

We have a swear jar in our house. Whenever we have spare change, we put it in the jar and cuss loudly.

I don’t think complaining here gets you a free Lifehacker but I admire your moxie!

Not sure if I’m glad I didn’t know that before I left my ex, or very upset.

It’s so messed up. Also choking someone is the #1 indicator that a person will murder their partner (or future partner). A lot of DV stuff talks about leaving abusive situations when safe, except if their abuser has choked them as that means they are at high risk of being killed.

Raising a kid has been like holding a mirror up to every bad habit and attitude I possess. I continually have to correct something I don’t like about me in order to correct it in him.

I really hope men reading this piece don’t feel defensive. It’s ok to admit that we haven’t done enough to change the culture of how men treat women, but we can accept that we need to actively change how we treat other men. Not speaking up when your friends are doing something that you know is wrong is you being

My kids love this show (I seldom watch TV), but this episode alone is worth it. A PSA clothed in a sitcom, bravo. I can’t think of a better, more effective way to increase awareness without coming across as patronizing, clinically boring, or just plain stupid. Kudos to the amazing writer(s), y’all did good today.

Thank you for writing this. I have had PPA since a few months after my second daughter was born. I thought I was going crazy with a complete inability to focus on anything for any amount of time. I could not sit still and sleeping was impossible unless I was so tired I just passed out from exhaustion. It’s standard

Your mental health before baby isn’t necessarily a good predictor either. I have dealt with lifelong depression and was fully prepared to deal with some form of PPD. Never had an issue. I was shocked. In fact, the first six months after my first was the best I had been in my life. I credit a lot of that to expecting

Oh man, brand new dad here and I gotta say, I can empathize with some of this stuff (especially the weird dark thoughts) so I can’t even imagine what women go through after having given birth. Between the physical trauma and the wild hormonal changes, it’s gotta be a nightmare.
