13yo vehicle with essentially zero miles is a timebomb of small and big things going wrong due to inactivity. With that mileage its seen 2-3 tanks of fuel at best, so that’s gotta be flushed out at least. I can imagine alot of other items will come up too.  Hard pass for me on this type of deal.

Generally speaking, if you’ve lost power, you don’t have a radio.  It would never occur to me to use AM radio to tune in anything significant.

Technologically, AM radio is probably the cheapest, most robust way to reach the most people quickly.

If they want to keep AM for public safety, they can pick one frequency and reserve it across the United States. Clear out 5 KHz of the best spectrum and treat them like the EBS where you can activate it in affected areas via a few 50-100 kW antennas. Use it for regional emergency weather alerts, national security…

What? That isn’t even close to true. I own two cars that are absolutely not underwater. And some brands have better resale than others. Sure, maybe the first year on most new cars you will be, but it isn’t always underwater, lol.

Probably fails the “short time to get there” criteria. I just punched Miami to LA into EVTripPlanner, picked a Model 3 LR and... it came up with 36 hours driving and 9 hours charging at +15% speed limit. Spending a fifth of the trip charging might give many pause.

If someone didn’t repost their content, would we even know CR still existed?

Personally, I’m REALLY looking forward to the Rivian R3. If the price is right, that’ll likely be my first EV.
