bike are supposed to observe traffic laws. they almost never do. in countries where cycling is commonplace and safe, they are much better at this. of course, they are often also better at driving, being courteous and humane on the road, and generally giving a fuck about other human beings.

As a pedestrian, I‘ve literally never had an issue with vehicles turning right on red. That's because I'm an intelligent human being who understands that it's important to make eye contact with the driver of that vehicle, or otherwise ensure that they are clearly not going to start moving when I step in front of them.

I will defend the left turn arrow. No it’s not warranted at every single intersection, but it is really necessary in certain spots where you would probably need to sit through 4 or 5 light cycles before you could even hope to get a gap.

Normally, I’d agree. But it seems like this article is yet another anti-car hit piece from this supposedly driving orientated magazine. Why do you hate cars and driving so much, Jalopnik?

People who drive dangerously already ignore traffic laws.  Imposing new laws won’t improve safety in the slightest.

So...you use all of the features.

Lane departure warnings, especially the kind that hijack the wheel.

100% this. No matter how consistant you think you are going, you are not

I’ll be honest with you, on long trips it’s usually obvious who isn’t using cruise control, and they kind of drive me crazy. Cruise keeps things orderly on the interstate.

I was born and raised on cold vinyl bench seats. Young people today don’t know how good they have it!

This 1000%. The mass market is only interested in something that let’s them sleep, read, or scroll on their phone while they are going to and from work. And if the passenger is liable for anything dumb the car does while it’s “driving” itself, that’s a deal-breaker.

“...the ad is disappointingly light on both the details and the car’s past...”

I’m 75 and most of my cars have been and are manual transmissions. Some vehicles I owned did not offer a manual, like my RAV4 Hybrid. I currently have a Golf manual and 2 Mustangs with manuals. Because most folks are buying cars & trucks that can’t be had with a manual, folks of all ages have no choice, but ever since

I’m 21 years old and bought a brand new 2023 Mustang GT in January. Grabber Blue, 6 speed. Sure, I could have gotten a performance pack premium used with all the bells and whistles, but it was too important to me to buy new. If I’m in a position to help save the manuals, but don’t do so, then I cannot complain about

I also beg to differ. I’m 63, and I sought out a car with a 6 speed manual because that’s what I want to drive. Getting on and off the clutch actually helps me manage the tendinitis in my left knee.

My wife and I are both 65. We have three cars, two at our principal residence and one permanently parked at our secondary residence. All three have manual transmissions. We wouldn’t have it any other way. We’re old and set in our ways and our way has always been the manual way.

Pretty sure we just learned everything we needed to about you, lol

It is pretty looking, but it ain’t that pretty.

And the new iphone is now usb-c

Wealthy people don’t want big incomes because then they might actually have to pay taxes and contribute to the country’s infrastructure that makes their business possible, like all their workers have to. They can still obtain extremely low interest loans using those stocks as capital and then spend that cash as though
