A few things:

Yup. I’m a highly paid IT engineer. I like to say I’m not overqualified for any job, as long as you’re willing to pay me to do it. I’ll sweep the floors or clean the bathrooms if you want me to, but I’m not gonna do it for less than my current salary.

Ranger or an old Yota or Datsun Nissan will do ‘er, for like 6 sheets of OSB or a mess of 2x4s. If you want a work truck, get an F-250 or a Transit.

Hi Jason! A chilean guy here! The video it’s hilarious, but I feel I should warn you the twitter account you linked is a far-right, trump-stan alike. On the future, please try to avoid giving visibility to account names with ‘patriota’ on them.

Seems to be mostly owners of aging domestic and Japanese cars buying parts at the local shops. I only buy fluids and things like wax and funnels there. Everything else comes from brand specialists online. But my cars are German, Swedish, and British. I have bought brake rotors for my Mom’s Camry at Autozone though.

Thank you. As a trans person, most experiences I’ve had with car culture, racing, and motorsport has been one of rejection since I’ve become visibly gender non-conforming. Car meets can be outright hostile, and I rarely feel comfortable being there without hiding myself to a greater or lesser extent. I’ve got all of

Robb - this is fantastic to see! We are trying to do something similar, albeit entirely at the grassroots/amateur level, for LGBT+ folks with Out Motorsports. Would be very interested in chatting and seeing how we could partner up in some way to advance both forms of diversity. I’ll figure out how to email you.

I was just finishing high school and entering college when the last recession took out the aerospace industry. If there had been something like this available, I definitely would have continued to pursue my engineering degree instead of switching to IT.

Here’s what I found just on ebay. Any of these would be a head-turner; fun to drive; and mostly immune to depreciation:

WTF?!? Did y’all miss the “fun to drive” part? How could anyone recommend anything other than a classic car? Something REALLY unique?

I’d get her a classic muscle car convertible. Safety isn’t really an issue when they’re terminally ill and it won’t lose any value at all.

The best option, if it’s financially feasible, is to get a two year lease on a brand new Mustang Convertible. I can guarantee that the payments will be about the same as buying a car for $25K plus (not to sound insensitive), when she’s gone, Ford can just take the car back. No hassle in trying to sell and you can do

Yes. Here’s a 2008 Boxster S tiptronic in Guards Red over tan.72K miles and heated seats. Asking 22995.

Man, these are some boring convertibles. She should get a Boxster or a 996 Cabriolet.

Exactly. I barely register new CUVs as anything beyond ‘obstacle’. If I’m really paying attention I might be able to remember the colour five minutes later. Zero chance I’d notice a mis-badged one even if someone pointed right at the badge.

This was my thought as well. I mean, I’m aware that Hyundai has some SUVs named Santa Fe and Tucson but I couldn’t describe either of them to you.

Aye, I couldn’t tell you the difference between those two and the 5 million other anonymous lifted SUV’s on the road anymore. They are for the most part generic and unexciting.  Hyper alert gearhead enthusiasts don’t get their interests up over this sort of thing.

So I’ll preface by saying I’m not an Academy member. I’m a filmmaker, but not terribly connected to the industry, since I mainly do documentaries. I’m no expert. This is more my opinion as to why the Oscar ratings are tanking.

SoCal res here. Every person I know that has moved from California to Texas in the last five years has moved for one of two reasons. Their company moved, like Toyota, or they were Right-wingers/Trumpers that thought California was too liberal.

It’s not just one vehicle, but it’s a class of vehicles.  I’m talking about lifted JEEPS and pickup trucks.  Simply no need at all.
