Who would have known that the upcoming revolution would have started over Star Wars? I preemptively declare myself warlord of the Midwest.

“Star Wars used to be a pastiche of external influences like Flash Gordon, Lord of the Rings, etc; it has over the years switched to being primarily a pastiche of itself.”
It’s coarse and irritating and gets everywhere?
If I could ensorse this post twice I would. Meh is about the most praise I can muster for last TLJ if I’m being charitable. It’s kind of a shame that it remains such a contested flame war topic online, but what else would you expect in 2018?
Still trying to pin the distain for the new trilogy on misogyny and racism, eh? I’ve got news for you and all of the critics like you who exist in an echo chamber of delusional self deception: The Last Jedi was just a crap story with nonsensical, arbitrary writing full of canonical inconsistencies. Point blank. The…
They’re SUCH a small part of TPM, too. Blown way out of proportion.
It’s such a wild idea that I kind of hope he either describes it in more detail or releases the stories in books or something. I really don’t know if it would have worked as 7-9, but it’s still interesting to me. I’m maybe intrigued by it just because it’s so Bionicle-y as mentioned here. I also get really excited…
Well, I may be a minority here, but I liked the midichlorians. I often feel like the Star Wars movies are at their strongest when they stick close to “science fictiony” textures and notions (while still remaining fantasy).
This is a bit like the direction of The Last Jedi, in that both approaches ask an audience to accept that what they thought was most important to the story’s universe was either trivial or only a small part.
What the fuck? People use Google Plus (assuming that’s what G+ is)
The problem both with the original statement and yours is that “handful”, “huge amount” and “very, very few” are not exactly quantifiable statistical standards.
Solo is the best of the Disney movies. Like hands down no argument best.
Millions of people loved ‘Last Jedi’ and millions loathed it. Fine. A small number of trolls didn’t like it because of racism or whatever, but its intellectually dishonest to suggest everyone who didn’t like ‘Last Jedi’ just hates women. Stop being a Disney shrill and acknowledge that some people just thought the…
I feel like the execution was worse then the idea. I did not need him to pull out the saber and twirl it. Him showing up makes sense in the context of Maul’s actions in the tv shows. Still what was really odd was seeing Maul without such a thin face like he has in the shows.
I enjoyed Solo, but lord that whole cameo was some seriously misguided nonsense.
“Solo is just bad”
Hot take: I didn’t mind the midi-chlorians, and I probably would’ve been more interested in what Lucas was going to do with the Whills and a “micro-biotic” world than the “soft remakes” Episodes VII and VIII turned out to be — with one giant caveat:
GL: they’re like mystical Sea Monkeys with little tridents and coral crowns and there’s good ones and bad ones who are battling it out in Obi Wan’s lower intestines and it mirrors the larger battle of the light and dark side in the macro-world. Poetry and all. We had eleven scripts finished and Warwick Davis was…
Yeah. Just to avoid antagonizing the fanbase I’m sure it’s a bad idea for a filmmaker who wants to make a superhero movie to admit to not reading comics. But we’re well into the second decade of superhero movies being the dominant genre of American blockbuster entertainment. Only a tiny fraction of people who watch or…
I don’t read comic-books either but I’d still love to make a superhero movie. I’m here if you’re interested Marvel/DC.
