Black Panther was my mouthwash, but that’s only because I didn’t think I’d be interested in Jumanji. Having finally watched it at home months later, I’d never have dreamed that I’d enjoy it so much more than a Star Wars film. Christmas 2019 is coming up Jumanji for me.

Regardless of Episode IX being the end of a trilogy, I get the feeling that Jumanji 2 generated a lot more forward-enthusiasm than The Last Jedi. The only reason I wouldn’t bet on Jumanji 3 winning this weekend is Star Wars’ built-in audience, for whom opening day (or night) is practically a religious observance.

Who would have thought that at the height of the superhero bloom, not to mention the Star Wars resurgence, the holiday 2018 movie season would come down to Venom vs. Aquaman?

    My guess is Tim Curry.

    Edit: Not meant as reply.

Nothing’s likely to touch Avatar at the box office, unless it’s just in North America, where Star Wars already has.

Erica Durance was in that show with Michael Shanks...Saving Hope? I believe it ran for quite a few seasons in Canada.

I was glad for Danes to finally get a grown-up star vehicle, but at this point I’d like to see her in something else, ideally back in film roles, dramatic stuff of course but I could also see her playing a mean villain in a genre film.

I tend to think that there is value in a show that lives in an appealing, family-focused fantasy of space exploration. This one could be better-written, certainly, but I’m not sure I’d want it to get real and show how brutal, bleak and literally short-lived an actual space mission could get. That would, to me, be

Is this show not getting episode-by-episode reviews? If so, color me disappointed.

Where does Rob Lowe fit into this?

The exploration part of this show—’sci-fi-tinged adventure’—is terrific. The sets, the locations and the high-concept imagery all really work, and there’s a sense of wonder to it.

In spite of the fact that I knew she wouldn’t die, Judy’s dilemma in the first episode was pretty good drama by me.

In theory I agree with what you’re saying, but the old Lost In Space was so ludicrously campy and I assume unintentionally funny that there’s almost no way a modern show could embrace that without being a series-length skit.

I don’t recall the Doom film being terrible. Unremarkable, maybe, but I found it a solid enough little adventure that I didn’t feel like I’d wasted my time watching. Good cast, if nothing else.

Ohhh, somehow I totally forgot about that song. Revisiting the trailer in question, yeah it does set less kids-oriented tone.

Even back pre-Kinja, it was nearly impossible to find what I was looking for using the AVC in-site search. The ‘protocols’ or logic or whatever you call it, didn’t seem have an intuitive grasp on relevance.
