As far as I can tell, no one has directly defended Pop, so I will. It’s not a perfect album and it does I think represent a deterioration curve down from Achtung Baby and Zooropa, but I like that about it. Pop feels like a band moving forward, even if it is devolution. It’s a fantastic sounding album with more good

I mean, to me they’re pretty different as films go and I like Ant-man better. That’s without giving a thought to the directing situation.

I concur on Spider-Man. It just feels like they nailed it in a very pure way. Logan might be my favorite and Wonder Woman is/was pretty darn satisfying. All three of those films do right by their characters.

I still almost can’t believe that he really said “MY MAN!”

    I understood that reference.

On-the-nose, Counting Crows “A Long December” and maybe the Fargo soundtrack for the snowswept feels.

Either Gordon Lightfoot or McLachlan doing “Song for a Winter’s Night” is up there for me.

    Zero difference?

For all the similar character types (fast guy, rich techsuit guy, fantasy person) between Marvel and DC ensembles, it is cool to be reminded that Superman is a singular sort of game changer.

Yes. Waititi breathed some life back into Thor, but this seems like it would be an even better fit (as in, a good fit not just because the franchise is languishing but because as you say, there’s the 80s factor).

Without knowing more details than those on the surface here, I am sad for The Writer’s Almanac. Many a time, listening to that little segment while driving to work in the morning gave me a glimmer of hope and...just a good feeling that I sorely needed.

The people who introduced it to me were indeed Miswestern-native living in the coast, but without any sort of negative bent that I recall.

It’s kinda ironic, don’t you think?

    Pescadorilly the fish niche.

I read that in the voice of Star Trek Voyager’s Tuvok.

Not terribly stirring, although that last scene looks pretty fun. The good thing about this is that we see lots of characters. The downside is that it doesn’t have many if any moments of distinguising (from the MCU usual) awe or wonder, outside of that shot of Spider-Man on the bus, turning to look out over the city.

He looks a lot like Durotan from the Warcraft movie, just without the big sabre-teeth.

For full-Kirby GotG, sure, but, Marvel didn’t shy away from colors in the first Thor film.
