The same guy who directed American Graffiti also directed other movies that weren't as good. So he was capable of it, but didn't always get there.

The thing that gets me about this is that…it's not exactly something for people who care about replicating a lost experience as it would have been. It's like buying a vintage jersey that is the wrong sport for the athlete in question. It screams 'retro' without being authentic.

I enjoy cassette nostalgia and even bought a few used a while back (used car could play them). It's kinda fun.

Serious. I liked them, anyway. Some nice power-pop for summer drives.

    Wasn't Benghazi the Dem's Benghazi?

    Oh my.

So that's why he pulled us out of Paris, to melt Icees?

I don't know…even the line that Carrie Fisher would always quote as an example of how clunky it was, "I've placed plans vital to the survival of the Rebellion…" never struck me as bad in the film itself. I think that most of the dialogue is good for the type of film that it is.

Nothing says summer like hot lutenists parading about, serenading townsfolk in pairs.

I can't add anything that isn't already being said, but I love the first Mummy film. It's almost Galaxy Quest-esque in that it's better than one would ever expect such a film to really be, and it is a joy. Not as scary to me as it originally was, but probably even more fun nowadays, especially compared to contemporary

Has there been a Shrek resurgence?

Yeah the casting is probably what jumped out at me the most when I revisted the film many years after seeing it in the theater (although the effects are quite nice as well).

That's what I remember the most from Returns—seeing the shot of the two ladies fighting in the trailers and being like what?
