How would you expect someone to treat the ownership of something they are afraid of? Recklessly?

That is some gnarly shit - probably good advice.
A bunch of well armed and trained liberals are not going to be the ones starting the civil war and thus engaging with the police and army. Liberals will be concientious and careful gun owners - abiding by the law at all times - unlike our current gun-toting countrymen. This is purely for self-defense.
We’re all on board with passive agression, that’s our problem. We need to get on board with some good, old-fashioned, agressive agression.
I totally agree about being as fully trained as possible. There is zero point to owning a firearm without it. Part 2 is that they should organize into community militia formations and learn to fight as a unit.
I am quite certain you are right, doesn’t change my belief that we are fooling ourselves about everything working out in the end.
Gun ownership requires extensive training - something liberals are better at than conservative.
Things can get worse for 500 years, a thousand years. It’s happened plenty in recorded history. Just because we happen to all live in the tail-end of a historical period in which it generally got better (except for both world wars and the civil war, etc. etc.) does not mean that it’s going to last forever.
Liberalism needs a shake-up. We’ve embraced the ethic of non-violence because it is, in fact, the most moral position. But just because it worked for Gandhi and MLK doesn’t mean it’s going to work now, for this particular situation. We need to define what we believe in and then state, unequivocally, what we are…

Why?
Totally, the general right-wing reaction to Gianforte tells us all we need to know about where this all goes from here. It isn’t good.
I agree totally, gun-opposition is one of the main reasons Democrats lost rural America, politically. While morally, it may be the right position, it’s basically akin to Libertarianism - it ain’t ever gonna happen. Political violence is a natural outcome of the general direction of our civil society, the only question…
Modern Americans are under the impression that human history has always moved in one direction: progress. That is not the case. There is nothing inevitable about things getting better, in fact, the vast majority of human history has moved in the opposite direction. Trump is a symptom, not the disease, and the disease…
Liberals should all be arming themselves at this point. Anything less is wishful thinking. This is not going to be resolved peacefully.
Liberals should get armed.
Sorry, voting for Democrats is not the same as voting for Republicans.
I hope everyone who had some notion of not fighting dirty, all the time, from now on, has been firmly disabused of that notion.
I just noticed that Trump’s feet look awfully small too. Maybe he DOES have a problem down there . . .
I hope the Pope was all, “Hey Ivanka, I forgive you for murdering Jesus.”
