When I went through a depression induced weight gain 30 years ago, I was too embarrassed to leave my house until I got down to a more acceptable weight. I was a coward.

If someone is severely depressed (and I’m sure not having his dad around and whatever shenanigans that occurred during his childhood has contributed), then no matter how many chefs, trainers, or whatever someone is given will help them until they deal with the underlying issues. I feel really bad for him - I’ve gained about 60 pounds in about the same time frame from depression, so I get it. But I also don’t just hide from the world. Being alone and staying in your house is the most crazy-making thing you can do. As much as I feel sorry for him, he definitely needs to be under a doctor’s care…
