As a child, I watched a partial eclipse filter through the trees in Jordan. As in, I was looking at the ground under a tree. I still remember it as one of the coolest things. I really wanted to be able to take the day off on Monday, but it didn't pan out.

Totality is about 360 miles from me and I can't drive 8 hours on a Monday for 15 minutes of remembering outer space.

The next one visible from at least part of the US is going to be in 2024, according to wikipedia. So it's not really the only total eclipse until 2045 as news outlets say. Unless you live in the Western states, but even then, they have an annular eclipse visible in 2023.

That might be how I'd describe someone like Laura Bush, but it's my understanding that Nancy Reagan basically ran the country during the last year of the Reagan presidency. She shunned longtime friend Rock Hudson after he came out, and before he died of AIDS. She started the ineffective "Just Say No" campaign while

The repeated explanations to the potential jurors that Shkreli is not in trouble for increasing the price of life-saving drugs several-fold on a whim, but rather because he lied to some rich people about where their money temporarily was, is a crystallization of my opinion of the justice system.

The problem with trying to differentiate between edgelords and "actual racists" is that it wastes a lot of time that could be better spent avoiding anyone who thinks nazism and white supremacy are things that should be given a platform.

We can now add “disgraced YouTube stars” to the list of people more willing to distance themselves from white supremacy than the currently sitting American president

Can we just sent you a large card and like 50 different pens and have you sign all our names?

Editing is normally a long and expensive process, but they spent their budget on pie so it'll still be out in time.

Yeah, but since the Nazis don't make fun of Donald Trump like Americans do, it means that both sides are "equally bad."

Best case scenario, conservatives are conservative on policy that doesn't affect them. (See: Rush Limbaugh changing his stance on rehab instead of prison for drug users, Rob Portman changing his stance on same sex marriage, and Nancy Reagan going against her party's hard-line stance on stem cell research.)

Clueless is popular because it represents a sort of bubbly, fun, teenage comedy that has been pushed over in the last two decades for more serious fare. The last comedy that I would group with Clueless was Mean Girls, which is another cult classic.

You can try this argument with someone who hasn't been involved in radical feminism for years and finally got tired of being told I "don't understand science" (which is weird considering that phd) and that I am full of internalized misogyny because how dare I criticize any aspect of feminism.

I know that if your ideology is being hijacked by people who think transwomen are secret men who want to destroy biology and assault women in bathrooms, maybe you sorta distance yourself.

Do you really think that saying "this show is a bad idea and should be canceled" is exactly the same thing as censorship?

I don't mean to brag but I've read a lot of tumblrs.

So this is clearly not involving me and I don't want to pile on, but I'm curious how you define "alternate history" and why you think it can by definition exist?

It's "A Handmaid's Tale." Handmaiden is something radical feminists call liberal feminists who sleep with men.
