1) I won’t address this, because you noted yourself that it is far-fetched.

I seriously don’t understand this. You realize that politicians in higher offices have always fundraised for those in lower state and local offices, right? Like, decades and decades and decades before Citizens United was even a twinkle in the eyes of conservative lobbyists? I don’t think anyone left of center wants to…
It only doesn’t seem like it to Sanders supporters who are convinced, for some reason, that the 2.5 million more voters that have pulled the primary lever for Clinton are completely made up of low information voters who, if ONLY THEY KNEW MORE ABOUT SANDERS, would obviously change their minds.
Ah, the views of a young, white, rich woman who has never experienced any obstacles of note.
It’s not the media who decides there are only 2 choices - it’s the way our government is currently set up. I think it would be great to have viable 3rd parties - the more opinions in the mix the better, and the idea of a coalition government is a fantastic one. I also would be delighted if there were laws on the books…
GhostofGPaMazur and I are having a baby in October, and we literally found out yesterday that we’re going to have a baby girl. It was emotional enough as it is, but then I had that exact same thought and became intensely weepy all over again.
Yeah, and not that it means anything, but my personal anecdotes completely back up that assumption.
Now, now. It’s quite obvious that the only shrine in Ms Poehler’s house is of Joe Biden.
I can only hope that others who share that sentiment are in similar states, and that you’re all equally spread out across such states.
I’m noticing the most fervent of Sanders supporters aren’t Democrats, they’re independents. I’m also noticing those who are throwing these hissy fits aren’t particularly interested in swallowing their preferences for the greater good - or, their calculation of the greater good does not result in the concern for the…
As mentioned in the article (or in the comments), I would not be surprised if this is chalked up to the Democratic ground game. Republicans don’t have a good on the ground team, for the most part. Meanwhile, that’s something the Dems have always excelled at - and Clinton in particular learned a lot after her defeat 4…
Someone upthread said that was just his Senate interns... does anyone have a link about him paying interns on the campaign? I’d expect that’d be difficult to do at the grass roots level but can’t find anything about it either way on the google.
It’s a smart strategy, for sure.
Truth.
Eh... I don’t know if I agree. There are a lot of dumb ass kids in school, and a lot of kids who think they’re hot shit. I find that is heightened with athletes, who are often shielded from the consequences of their actions.
Well then I’m totally mixed up! Sadly, there are too many instances of accused rapists suing the school, it’s getting hard to keep them all straight.
Right, which we discussed further down thread. But Yale lawyers are going to be billing closer to an average NYC attorney, not an average Montana attorney, hence our disagreement on whether a 500k settlement indicates admission of being in the wrong versus a business decision to cut their losses.
He also wasn’t found innocent by the college. He was found guilty, then appealed, but at that point the complainant had graduated and couldn’t/didn’t take time off of her job out of state to come back and deal with another review, so the college dismissed the complaint. How anyone can look at that and read “innocent”…
Totally understood. I mean, slip and falls that result in minor ankle surgery can be settled for just under a million around here, so I look at half a million for a rape as chump change.
I’m certainly not an attorney myself, but my significant other does defense work for major clients in the NYC area. Half a mil, while high, is not a rare number to see. I would not be surprised if Yale made that call in this instance. I have to figure their attorney’s fees are gargantuan on a regular case, much less…
