So, I’ve been working through some until recently unexplored assault feelings/reactions (thanks, 45!). I want to watch this because it is important. I’m also afraid I may not be in the best mental state to deal with it. Has anyone else seen previews yet? What are your thoughts?

I just wanted to comment to say I appreciated the effort you expended on this explaination. I can’t imagine being so patient for so long, but it’s definitely important when people who aren’t familiar with these issues try to engage. Thank you for all you do here, good sir/madam!

Ooo, good call on Snape. I wouldn’t mind seeing this made into a movie, mostly because I was so intrigued on how the play deals with the special FX called for (as an American, it will be awhile until I get to see it live, unfortunately). But I am in 100% agreement... No one other than Rickman should be allowed near

Seriously. No. No no no no no! I read the damn thing in 3 hours. With breaks. And the play is even shorter.

Now playing

As the great Eddie Izzard so perfectly pointed out...

I was just saying... my facebook and other internet stops are practically devoid of think pieces stemming from either performance. I didn’t watch the VMAs because I think I’ve basically aged out of their target demo, but I watched the clips from Beyonce and Rihanna and I am DYING. They were SO GOOD that I literally

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if that $274 number includes “costs” like the R&D that went into coming up with the delivery system. They’ve obviously made that money back umpteen times over again, but really, why remove that line item from their calculations? I’m not against removing an R&D cost completely, because I

Holy shit. I have a birthing plan for the SOLE PURPOSE of saying, in caps, with multiple exclaimation points and underlines that unless the alternative is serious lasting bodily harm, there will be NO EPISIOTOMIES.

Honestly, the most effective birth control/sex ed I ever received was having to watch a birthing video. Downwind. With volume.

This is unsurprising to me. I grew up in central NJ and these were handed out in my middle school home ec-type class. Not everyone got to take one home - and now that I look back on it, the kids who did were probably of lower SES. At least 2 of them had babies in high school. So.... my anecdata supports that study.

I just wanted to chime in to say this is possibly one of the best conversations I’ve ever had the pleasure to read. Thank you both for my morning chuckle!

Man, what was the criteria for this mass follow event? I feel so left out. :-\

Oh, absolutely. I don’t mean to absolve their support (conscious or subconscious) of the whites-first mentality in anyway. I also think, though, that good democratic policy will focus on bettering all people - and if the subset of working poor/working class whites perceives that no one is paying attention to their

Agreed. I often find myself literally thinking something along the lines of “whatever, their problems aren’t as bad as so-and-so-group’s problems”, but that’s all a matter of my personal priorities. I have to constantly remind myself that A) it’s tough out there for working class and poor whites, even with their

Absolutely. Poor whites and working class communities (ex coal regions, etc.) have absolutely had it tough and they have been ignored politically for a long time. They see Trump as someone who has finally seen them and understood their hardship. I think it’s easy to pay lip service to this point because communities of

Jesus, what?? How did I miss that this past weekend?

This was a fantastic read! I’ve only gotten into make up, skin care, etc., recently as a long-term tomboy type, but I’m really loving it and LOVED learning this aspect of the industry. Thank you for this fantastically researched piece, Clover.

Holy shit, dude. Are there links to his past terrifying comments so the rest of us can learn and better respond?

Congrats!!!! I’m due with my first in like 6 weeks and will be huddled in a corner crying until then.

Seriously. I would have kicked that nurse in the face.
