Read, don’t watch, V for Vendetta.

In the books, IIRC the mutually assured destruction angle was more to do with the fact that Butcher had files on The Seven (Homelander in particular) rather than then having received a dose of V. That said, Butcher did manage to take out Payback more or less singlehandedly, so perhaps you’re right!

Thank you *so* much, Jill! Words fail me, I’m overjoyed!

IMHO this sounds like a really fresh and fun take on a franchise ripe for reinvention.

PS: Heavens above, I’m out of the greys! Praise the maker!!

With the possible exception of not having the Boys be V’ed-up themselves. I get that it makes them even more the underdogs, but they still were in the comics, just by virtue of being so outnumbered and still not being powerful enough to go up against the Seven directly.

The TV series is obvs not making its humor as reliant on a fairly comprehensive knowledge of comic book publishing history.

Thank you, kind soul!

I long to be ungreyed, if it’s not too much trouble! It’d do more than just warm the cockles of my heart, in very real terms it would make my year as io9.com has been my #1 net destination for a decade at least.

Hear, hear.

Likely because the new consoles have yet to demonstrate any games that really show-off what the new tech can do.

I came here for this. Was gonna ask, “Is his twisted new ally a particularly evil lawyer?” ‘Cos 2000 AD should fuckin’ sue.

No, I get that… I’m saying was he trying to so something other than his native accent in Thor: Ragnarok ‘cos he sounded very Kiwi in that. Sorry for confusing you and for whatever anguish that may have caused.

+1

I think anyone who’s been reading comics for more than 5 months realizes that, no drama.

Wait… was he *not* trying to do a Kiwi accent in Thor: Ragnarok?

Why doesn’t The Root find somebody who’s both Black and Jewish to cover issues where those two identities intersect? Wouldn’t that be more representative? I for one would definitely welcome commentary from that perspective.

Rupert Murdoch is Jewish now?

Nice analogy! +1

Um… we didn’t see that happen in South Africa following the end of apartheid though, did we? And many would say such a reaction would’ve been justified in that siutation, too.
