Your comment deserves to come out of the greys.

“The thing is for a book set in 2045, it makes no sense why 80s nostalgia would be all the rage.”

I’m a fan of RPO and its vision of the OASIS. Many VR game developers will tell you that this book has been a big influence.

“Screw the groupthink , sometimes its ok just to like dumb fun stuff”

Hear, hear! And let’s not forget io9's original review of the book, which was full of nothing but praise. Apparently not only does that not count any more, but now nobody’s supposed to have ever liked it in the first place - talk about revisionist history!

Yes! +1, always happy to see a fellow Grendel fan :-)

Nobody’s gonna comment on how this follows the path set by Grendel: Black, White & Red and Grendel: Red, White & Black?

You should def check out AC: Syndicate and add it to your list, it’s up there with 2 and Brotherhood in terms of superb AC games. IMHO Syndicate’s unique assassinations were the absolute best in the series.

AC: Syndicate is the pinnacle of post-Ezio classic ‘Screeds, IMHO.

I read that and my immediate reaction was, “Yikes! Way to the throw the PR rep under the bus.” Now that rep has to catch flack at work for just doing their job.

Pretty clear by now that nobody on io9's staff ever read James Robinson’s Starman.

No mention of James Robinson’s The Golden Age? Do you even comics, bruh?

I caught it on iPlayer (VPN) but it’s also available on Amazon Prime and Google Play.

If you like this and Dery Girls then definitely check out Ladhood too, it’s excellent and absolutely hilarious.

I dunno about that, pal. Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko developed Marvel’s roster of characters precisely because DC’s stable (e.g. Superman, Batman etc.) were devoid of real human characteristiscs and were purely all-good/pretty much infallible. IMHO DC didn’t correct this until DC’s Jenette Kahn instigated the

Obligatory “that’s not Starman/wish this show was about Jack Knight” post.

Superb article, thanks for sharing!
