Get off my... yawn

Jeezus, that was on TV in the 70s?

Today, we’re going to do a Tier List of Simpsons gay jokes. So... ... ... uh... in this case D is clearly offensive while S will stand for spectacularly empowering and funny. Before we start, as you like and subscribe, a little bit about my history with the show.

I mean there’s lazy employees and then there’s this hair product with a giant OLIVE OIL written on it.

I knew a guy who had a head of 18" spikes. He varnished them. Holy crap we were innovative and stupid.

You should...probably ignore that.

I dunno, it feels like sometimes there’s too much pearl clutching from younger members of the LGBTQI+ community, I find it really hard to be offended by the gay jokes in The Simpsons.

Well, they should have a fire exit.

Just to clarify, the only thing “new” about this is that it’s spicy and the cilantro lime sauce.

Summer, 1992: I’m asked by my boss to escort a candidate for a tech position to her office from the front door of our offices. I do. Over the next three years we become such good friends everyone thinks we’re dating.
Summer, 1995: we move in together (after dating for about two weeks)
Winter, 1997: reader, I married him.

Don’t forget the industrial waste runoff that gives it the signature, glow-in-the-dark orange color.

I always forget that this person exists. There’s an inifinitely better Jason Alexander out there, anyway...

I was obese now I am 12.5% body fat (or so) largely by solid nutrition and half-decent training and the amount of people who are ignorant about basic things like calories in calories out and the role protein plays in your diet. I can’t bring up satiety, importance of fibre, anything until we get some basic things

No problem its a common issue and glad you learned. Its a pet peeve of mine we don’t explain these things better to people actually. Like “healthy” is such a terrible word when talking about nutrition, especially in the context of weight loss, because nutritious foods may not be great for weight loss. While some less

Calories are energy, nutrients are the materials from foods and the environment your body uses to function. You get energy from breaking down macronutrients but the “nutritious” nature of food comes from its assorted micronutrients, such as minerals, fibre, and vitamins.

Its less energy dense and has a very similar nutrient profile so actually ya its more nutritious. Honestly, it strikes me as a good substitution when trying to lose weight. I’m a fan of giving people options to make less energy dense foods when eating out.

I imagine she has taken the time to read Rowling’s comments and was able to critically and intelligently assess them. It’s a shame you can’t do the same.

There seems to be a basic problem with the English language. We don’t have a word for “I agree with a statement you made, but I find your views abhorrent”. We want to group everyone into silos and then either condemn or praise them. But that isn’t how this shit works.

Sure, because Eddie Izzard is not a conservative, and make no mistake, woke culture has nothing to do with progressive liberalism. It is conservative extremism with a different set of priorities. Liberals don’t attempt to silence or “cancel” anyone they disagree with. Liberals don’t try to purge art of ideas and

Clearly asking someone like J.K. Rowling nicely to re-consider her anti-trans stance and have compassion for people who are actively being murdered based on this harmful ideology isn’t working. Seems pretty reasonable to yell at her about it at this point.

Meanwhile, in the real world, J.K. Rowling made a perfectly defensible point about the essential nature of sex to defining the female experience that is in no way “transphobic” beyond the fever dreams of fringe bloggers.
