I get it.  Not everyone thinks how our criminal justice system obtains and uses confessions is an important issue.  Some people just don’t give a shit because they can’t imagine it having any effect on them personally.  

Well, it certainly could be for the Supreme Court, if the Court was interested in being honest about how we go about obtaining confessions and what that might mean across the system, but they can sleep easy that Dassey will probably spend most of the rest of his life in prison.  

This presumes a world in which decent, reasonable people were not horrified by the idea of Trump and what he was bringing to the forefront of our society at that point.

It was overturned by a federal District Court judge, but thankfully the 7th Circuit stepped in and kept our streets safe by making sure that prompted confessions from unrepresented minors with learning disabilities remain inviolate. 

It would have been incredibly surprising if the court had taken this appeal based on problems with the confession.  If anything, they would have taken it to reaffirm that “confessions” like this are no less valid than any others, so it might be for the best that they stayed away.
