When I married my wife her sister was 9. Those were some hard years for her parents. 9-13 is tough no matter what, but ODD magnifies everything. Our son (now 6) has had a bad run over the last few weeks. My wife and I bought the book a couple of years ago but didn't read it all. We just bought the audiobook as well in

Then fix it. Don't just bottle it up. Talk it out and fix it. If you're holding onto it, then it's worth bringing it into the open to fix it. If it's not worth that, then you have to let it go (which was the actual point of my post, rather than household division of labor).

In your analogy, what specific person did he approach?

Actually his analogy is very apt. He didn’t approach anyone in particular. He said what he did within “earshot” of other people who could be assumed to have just experienced the same thing he did, then wanting to just ride the hype train instead of debate point-by-point why he’s justified in feeling the way he does

Nuh-uh. When have you ever seen a sticker light on fire?

As I read this more and more I thought about how people don’t bat an eye when someone buys a beach house, but mention time-shares and people seem to lose their minds. My in-laws have had a time-share for several years and it’s been great! They can transfer it to places all over the country and even down to lots of

Pretty much any suggestion that involves making mealtime a game is a bad idea.

Oh MAN. I’m using this tonight. Broccoli, ironically, is something my kids request and will eat a ton of, unprompted. They struggle with things like lasagna, quesadillas, etc. Basically anything they haven’t chosen to like. We have a rule, though, that they have to try one bite of everything. Now that they’re 6 years

Nice try, government. That’s how they get you.

Whose getting a marble Insta-Pot this weekend?

Whose getting a marble Insta-Pot this weekend?

Fair point. Well said.

Sounds about right.

Don’t get me started on detox BS. Every time someone starts talking about it I just ask, “What toxins are you worried about?” They never have an answer so I say “Oh. Might wanna do some research then.”

Yeah, if you’re paying for gigabit you’ll definitely want to invest in better gear. I run UniFi for all my locations at work, but I run an AmpliFi system at home because it’s so much more affordable. I only get 100 Mbps internet at home so the issue is kind of moot since just about anything can handle those speeds.

I’m a big fan of Ubiquiti’s stuff. For the price it can’t be beat. Not by a long shot. They’re also branching into consumer gear with their Amplifi HD and Amplifi Instant lines. I just installed the Instant at home and couldn’t be happier! Excellent options at a decent price, and literally a 2-minute setup time.

I can support this viewpoint. Jail maybe isn’t the perfect answer, but honestly he could probably retire tonight and live the rest of his life in comfort without ever lifting a finger, so ending his career just doesn’t feel like enough. An apology, some well-placed donations to repay the damage he’s done and the

Nice rebuttal. Have you ever had to come forward after a traumatic experience? Have you ever experienced the crippling terror of worrying they won’t believe you? Have you ever tried to justify to yourself all the ways it just wasn’t worth seeking justice because “it probably won’t work out anyway?”

I applaud your willingness to give the benefit of the doubt. In this case you were wrong, but it’s understandable. It’s appalling (and rare) that someone would orchestrate such a thing. That rarity means believing the purported victim is usually the safest path. Unfortunately it can still be a damaging one to take.

My instinct was to point out the differences between those situations and this whole mess, but there are fewer differences than I’d like so Imma hop on board with this one. Sure, they weren’t knowingly orchestrating a fraud for personal gain (the calls were more out of ignorance and idiocy than anything), but they

Same reason famous actors get busted for shoplifting. It’s not that they can’t afford the clothes, it’s the rush, the attention. This guy wanted attention. I’m sure he’s had a lot of struggles in his life with being black and gay, but he came out a millionaire, so I think he’s doing alright. But that wasn’t enough. He
