I’m just exploring the potential motives behind these laws with hypothetical situations. I’m bored and I like seeing what people come up with. Call it “playing devil’s advocate.” I’m not trying to piss people off, I’m just curious how people respond to certain arguments.

I have honestly never heard of this person before, but I also avoid California whenever I can. Now that I know who she is it’s kind of disappointing that she isn’t enacting a sort of “Dread Pirate Roberts” scheme and finding a young starlet-wannabe to replace her and carry on the legacy. Or, more accurately, it’s

The separate bedroom seems like a slam dunk. If he feels like it’s creating distance that may be the impetus he needs to get to a doctor. Sleeping next to each other isn’t nearly so important as having positive interactions throughout the day, which I PROMISE is being hampered by your lack of sleep.

I don’t even know how to feel about this. Teenagers are famously short-sighted and ignorant of everything outside themselves and it sounds like the kid was pretty set on suicide to begin with. On the other, BIGGER hand she was texting this kid telling him NOT to change his mind about killing himself. Seriously, who

It sounds like an issue that would only ever come up if someone took someone else to court rather than having bathroom attendants checking documents. Let’s say a little girl goes into the bathroom and is followed in by a man who threw on a dress for just such an opportunity. The girl’s father calls him out and has the

Everyone’s talking about the drink, but I don’t see anyone commenting on the tax itself other than the brief mention of it targeting lower-income families. Is everyone around here ok with taxes like this or are we all just too enraged about people mispronouncing Les Croyuxes that we’re ignoring the bigger issue?

I’ve thought it over for several years ever since it happened and I simply can’t make any sense of it. They never posted a negative review, they never contacted us again for any reason... The only thing we lost was a couple thousand dollars they owed us for the date that we could have gotten had we sold it to someone

My wife has been a nurse dealing with newborns in one way or another for a few years. She says “If it’s in your room for the baby’s use, take it.” Obviously this doesn’t apply to medical equipment, but diapers, binkies, etc. are all up for grabs. YMMV depending on the hospital and the nurses you get, but generally

Your doctor will probably respect you for asking these particular questions. I know several doctors who have people insisting they be prescribed antibiotics for everything. Having someone ask “Do I really need them?” or “Is a short course an option here?” would probably prompt a “Huh, this person isn’t the raving

Yeah, claims like that are super fishy, but for every fishy claim there are hundreds who will believe it. Everyone has their “Crap, there are stupid and underhanded people in the world” moment at different times. This was probably that moment for at least several hundred people who backed the project.

I was actually going to mention DFW as my exception to the big airports rule. I lived 15 minutes from DFW for a few years and flew out of it frequently. It doesn’t feel like one enormous airport so much as 5 smaller ones connected by trams. It’s really well designed and the remodels they’re doing are incredible.

That’s why I have to practice so much.

Interesting take.

She makes good points, I just don’t think they fit together very well. Part of that problem is the title that sets expectations not met by the article’s content.

Playdek’s messaging was that they didn’t NEED the KS money, that the game was going to be made regardless

I don’t think I’ll ever visit Kickstarter again. What I will do, however, is occasionally google “Best video games from Kickstarter” to find the rare gems. FTL was enough to convince me that the model CAN work, I just won’t put down my money anymore without receiving an actual product in return. I’ll buy AFTER they’re

Funding Unsung Story has gone from hopeful to worrying to disappointing to unbelievably frustrating to past the point of caring to morbidly entertaining.

From a satirical standpoint you might be right that it succeeded. From a “Let’s make a fun game” standpoint, I disagree. People will enjoy quality games for decades despite graphical or technical limitations as evidenced by the Super Mario Bros games. I pulled out some of those games for my nephews a while ago and

I was never a huge fan of DKC, but I have to agree with everyone else in saying that it was pretty clearly a better game than EWJ. I never enjoyed either of them too much but EWJ relied too heavily on the 90's for its existence and popularity, whereas DKC could have been launched in any decade and not felt out of

I never played Earthworm Jim more than a handful of times at friends’ houses, but even as a kid I never understood the appeal. It seemed too complicated at the time and now, as an adult, I look back on it as flashy with little substance. Yeah, the “HAHA SO RANDOM” factor probably won people over at the time, enough so
