I daily drive an automatic but have a 6-speed GTO that I put about 2,000 miles on per year during the non-winter months. I laugh at how easy it is for me to suddenly develop the habit of pushing in the clutch when going to start that daily driver, just after a day or so of driving around the goat.

Indeed, or when needing to go into reverse, me driving the auto Mazda6 -> “where’s the clutch on this thing!”

Every one I’ve rented I’ve managed to hit or exceed EPA estimates. Hell, I routinely get 34+ hwy out of Escapes. Those aren’t supposed to crack 30.

They aren’t rolling back emissions standards. They are wanting to freeze them. There is a lie running around saying they want to roll them back or take them back to pre-Obama or whatever. That’s false. There have been large improvements that aren’t getting taken away. Instead the debate is more needed or are we ok

To be fair, it looks like the weather’s going to be shit for all 3 of the aforementioned race events. (The two US ones, at least)

MAHK is gonna have a FIELD DAY

Civic LX with a manual transmision.

I’ve gotten 43.4 MPG out of a tank of gas in my FiST and comfortably fit 3 tweens and two adults in it AND went camping.

I know right? Americans complain about gas prices, yet we have meatheads that insist on driving bigass pickup trucks, so they can run to the grocery store to buy food in mass quantities, so they can stuff their fat faces, which would justify needing bigass trucks to drive their big asses around.

Octane requirements are a minimum. There is no such thing as a maximum engine octane requirement.

The OP was talking about cars “requiring 87 octane.” Which would mean cars that will become paperweights if 87 octane isn’t available. Those types of cars don’t exist.

But then how are we supposed to stalk people?

If you are concerned about the impact on lower incomes people, then income tax rebates can be created to offset the cost of the gas tax.

“Hey honey, gotta work on the car today. This should only take me an hour or so, and I’ve got everything I need already.”

That automatic-listed-as-manual thing is an absolute epidemic on Autotrader. Especially on non-sports cars. A few years ago I was looking at compact luxury cars and had Manual as one of the criteria. It felt like 9 out of 10 were automatics. Sometimes they would double-down and say something stupid like “Yeah it’s

It’s not ethanol’s octane rating that is the problem, it’s its energy density.

you’re probably right about the politics, but the the math is on point. cars get substantially worse mileage with e10 than straight gas, at least all the cars I’ve ever driven do, I bet yours too. a 3% gain is EASY with the removal of Ethanol...but...it won’t because the manufacturer’s test with straight gas so their

truck and car guy: “So, how often do you let loose with your sports car?”

*Guy who would totally buy perfectly mundane car doesn’t get why people would buy different perfectly mundane car*

Hum, I always wondered why there we so many ∀INɹOℲI˥∀Ɔ cars in the rockies.
