How did I not make that connection?!? I even replayed 3 & NV before 4 came out and I still didn’t make that connection so many thanks for pointing it out to me.
Maybe it wasn’t his decision. Everybody has bosses and most of them are far more concerned with quarterly reports than customer satisfaction and often have little to no knowledge about the worlds they are administrating coupled with the confidence that they indeed know quite a bit about what they are administrating.
Nobody said that. They said we should embrace it all, which includes your point of view and theirs and everybody else.
It’s also equally plausible that in the future we have poor people just like we do today who cannot afford treatment and end up in the manual wheelchair. I don’t think the people scraping by on Jakku have the wealth for a hover wheelchair.
I’m in the same boat as you are, I’d swap my body to be inside Cousin It if he was healthy. I don’t think the author is saying we have to remain disabled but that societies of the future should be designed to accommodate everybody. If we can somehow traverse the distances between solar systems we can surely make…
If there’s poor people in the future there are going to be people using wheel chairs that are fully manual and don’t float and won’t have access to the treatments needed to alter their bodies. We already have the resources on Earth to create a utopia centered society but we don’t do it because of human nature.
Look into modern deaf culture. There’s definitely a faction there that eschews any kind of technical alterations to their bodies such as cochlear implants.
Also, if you jump up into the air while flying on a plane you’ll end up smashed against the back of the plane. Thankfully people have already explained your physics error so I can could use my time to make a lame joke.
Poor people exist in the future of most these realities. A poor person on Jakku isn’t going to have a hover wheelchair.
Unless everybody in the future is wealthy there are going to be poor people just like today who cannot afford treatments that fix things.
We have technology that can handle a steep incline like that now but most people cannot afford it. There’s plenty of poor people in Star Wars. Jakku comes to mind.
Poor people exist in Star Wars. Somebody scraping by on Jakku isn’t going to have a hover wheelchair.
Poor people exist in Star Wars. Jakku, which was obviously full of people barely scraping by, is the kind of place where there are people that can’t afford anything but a manual wheelchair. When you think things through you need to remember not everybody has access to the tech level you are seeing on the screen.
Flight attendants are humans. Humans are known to discriminate against other humans often for petty reasons. A large corporation would not act like this in this day and age but a person could.
Flight attendants are human beings not robots. Humans discriminate against other humans all the time often for incredibly petty reasons. You’re asking us to pretend human nature does not exist among flight attendants because, apparently, they’re the one profession where nobody has any animosity towards anybody else.
The humiliation is that their couple status was deemed less than the straight couple’s status not that they had to sit in seats with less leg room.
I am going to think of this tragedy everyday for the rest of my life!
Trump is a less talented, far less empathetic Michael Scott.
God how I love that movie. Still watch it every few years and have been since the 80's.
