Your getting too far into the weeds on that comment. A range of 50-100k is so wide that the comment is clearly at least partial hyperbole. The larger point that the overwhelming majority of Americans will never reach the sort of wealth independence they dream of has merit.

HARP program is widely considered a failure. They gave criminals billions. What did they let you do? Refinance your house? Did you get a check for the value your house lost? You were the victim of a crime and they gave the criminals a bunch of your money after they were caught stealing from you. Time to get mad.
