The TSA website says no knives except for plastic or round-bladed butter knives. But on my most recent flight, the sign at the security screening entrance said blades under 3" were allowed.

The Merlin has a 2 3/4" blade. Blades under 3" are legal to carry onto a plane.

Why not? Are we so ruthless and cruel that we cannot come up with a system that treats, rather than punishes, the symptoms of trauma?

Yeah I admit I needed to learn more. I still have serious reservations about the whole thing and I can still see how both racism and sexism played into the length of her sentence, but I admit there is a possibility her story is not entirely true.

The IDF is one of the best-organized, -funded, and -trained militaries in the world. They have been able to repeatedly repel invasions even when they were much weaker than they are now. The fear of Israel’s destruction is overblown propaganda.

OK I can admit I had more to learn about the case. However, I don’t see any reason it was legitimate to try her as an adult, nor any reason she shouldn’t have been released at 18. She was abused, neurodivergent, and young, and people have gotten much less time for doing much worse things.

This can never be said enough. Israel’s biggest non-Jewish supporters in the US government are anti-Semites who believe Israel will trigger the Last Judgment.
