The TSA website says no knives except for plastic or round-bladed butter knives. But on my most recent flight, the sign at the security screening entrance said blades under 3" were allowed.

The Merlin has a 2 3/4" blade. Blades under 3" are legal to carry onto a plane.

Yeah I admit I needed to learn more. I still have serious reservations about the whole thing and I can still see how both racism and sexism played into the length of her sentence, but I admit there is a possibility her story is not entirely true.
