Great story. Best article I’ve read on Jalopnik in a loooong time. Thanks for sharing.
Had a Crosstrek for a year. Good car but it was too slow. Excruciatingly slow. I made the sign of the cross every time I had to merge on a short on-ramp. Thankfully it held it’s value pretty strongly and I didn’t take any kind of financial hit when I traded it a year later.
In related news, the sky is still blue and water is still wet. I kid, I kid. Glad someone took the time to do the comparo.
Cool car. The only thing missing a driveshaft.

I had two of these in the mid-90's - a ‘91 turbo that was a dedicated track car and a ‘92 that was my daily driver. I absolutely LOVED them. I’m dying to buy another one so I can put a V6 into it :-) But you know how it is... kids, job, responsibilities, life... they all get in the way.
American open-wheel racing has been a dumpster fire since 1996. Having said that, I pray it somehow returns to its former glory.
I am so genuinely sad to hear this. I’m at work right now trying to keep myself composed. I never met the man and I know he and his family have no idea who I am, but I will be praying for them all. Such a shame. RIP, good sir.
Completely agree with this. I’ve been driving a ‘15 STI for the past 3 years and I still love it. The interior has everything I need in a car, nothing more, nothing less. That’s one of reasons I love the car - it’s free of distractions, everything works, and I don’t need to think about or look at the secondary…
1) Don’t bother getting out of your car to pump your own gas.
Oh well, no great loss to society. At least the tax payers’ dollars won’t be spent keeping him alive.
Yes.
I’d liken it to lifting the dress of a pretty girl to get a peak. Only difference is the girl can defend herself.
