You're getting criticized because you made a hyperbolic statement about American enthusiasm for soccer, with the implication that you yourself were well ahead of the curve (which smacks somewhat of elitism). But hundreds of thousands of Americans attended the 1994 Cup, just for the experience, even if they weren't yet

I love Gravity's Rainbow. I'll sometimes sing the banana pancakes song as I cook breakfast!

He was actually on the Simpsons three times! Although only 2 of them were speaking roles.

I had to Google Martin Mull just to make sure he wasn't dead. Everything in this piece is strangely phrased.

I know you're probably speaking in layman's terms when you say "dropped the charges." We tend to say that whenever someone gets investigated for a crime but the DA's office doesn't prosecute. But technically speaking, no charges were ever filed against Allen. Investigated, yes; charged, no.

God, I was briefly terrified that Morgan Freeman was dead and this was some sort of tribute.

I can see your point, and I don't think you're being an asshole. Whenever some dies flying or skiing or mountain climbing, someone inevitably comes out to say something like "It's ironic. He was great at this. He did it all the time. I can't believe it." But it's only because they engaged in a high risk activity

I was just about to say "Who can hate The Rock????" Michael Bay sucks, but holy moses, the Rock is a genuinely good film.

To be fair, 72% of the population of the US is white, but only 63% of the Disney princesses are white. So the non-white population of princesses is fairly well represented (as long as we only think about the United States).

I thought his pronoun reference was a little unfocused.

Very nice!

That $470 million has really raised awareness of cancer. Before Lance, no one had even heard of this disease, and now, it's all I hear about!

Actually without the "A" the two lines mean exactly the opposite of each other.

Is he selling a fish that costs one pound or one lbs of fish?

Why did you put "douchiest" in quotes? Did you not mean it?

It honestly took me 4 or 5 glances at the photo before I noticed Zuck #1 in the corner.

It actually plays out like a noir thriller. Not funny in the slightest. Oddly, I read it before the movie came out as a child, because I was so intrigued by the cover. But the movie is infinitely, infinitely better!

In the book? It was nothing like the movie at all. In the book, Roger Rabbit is a comic strip character, not animated. And ——— spoiler for a 30 year old book ———- Roger is murdered. Baby Herman is in it and Jessica, I believe, but no Judge Doom to the best of my recollection.

This is the first time I've heard "Jar Jar Abrams" and I love it! I'm stealing it.
