I know exactly what you mean about owners turning you off of cars. Prior to the Z06, I owned a 2016 Mustang GT, and a 2017 and 2018 Charger Scat Pack.

I can’t say just how awful most of the Mustang owners I met were. Whether it was at red lights or car shows, it was always a dick measuring contest with them. I’ll be

In some instances I can get it. Like for example, I grew up 15 mins down the road from Tire Rack’s national HQ. They didn’t charge groups/clubs to use their test track (burn your tires up here, buy your tires here!), so from april through october, every day of every weekend was an autocross by various SCCA regions and

skip the turbo, keep it N/A. But minimum of 250hp. And base model should be under 25k, top-of-the-line premium should be under 31k.

It’s not just absolute power, it’s power to weight ratio. The Miata has a much better better power to weight ratio (12:7lbs/hp for the Miata vs. 14) because it’s around 400lbs lighter than a BRZ. The old WRX was also very light by today’s standards (3,100lbs) and thus also had a better power to weight ratio than the

Tell that to someone who is interviewing for work!

Been Work from Home since March and have call forward from my office to the cell, have to pick up every single call. Annoying, but better than missing a client or having to check the office VM every few hours

I don’t have that luxury when I’m at work.  I’ve asked them if they can write a warranty for my (now long gone) 1984 Mazda RX-7.  Failing that for my also departed 1988 Mazda RX-7.  Or my current 1993 Mazda RX-7.  Or my 1996 Ford F-350 Turbo Diesel.  Or my 1990 Dodge B150 van.  Or my 1989 Chevy Cavalier.  Usually by

So...

As a small business owner that deals with customers all over the country, I can’t just ingore calls I don’t know. Furthermore, most of these spammy calls mask the number and use a local area code.

Many classes require keeping it mostly stock so, that’s an issue too. Too many mods put you into an un-competitive class. Most time trial I’ve seen don’t run the cars particularly long. Maybe 3-5 laps then in, so the cars seldom get super hot.

I’d give you 500 stars for line 3 if I could.

Right, so he can buy a 2019 and pocket 5+ grand. Sounds like a perfect option.

No engine does well under high loads unless it is dry sumped.

“I do have a kiddo on the way so something with a back seat would be nice, but not critical.”

Regarding No. 4 - quite often. There’s usually 1100-1200 entries at Nationals and over half of the classes don’t even fit cars that have less than 4 seats.

Though leaning back to your point a bit, the amount of cars that *should* be daily drivers that are reserved for autocross-only is fairly humorous as well.

Eh, just find an E92.  Weighs less, has more power, and will be cheaper. (yes I was surprised to find out the E92 is 200lbs less)

That’s an excellent point. Their control at the limit is crazy. They “back off” in an F1 race, and they drop like 0.75 seconds out of a 2 minute lap. And that makes the tires last like 50% longer and brings down the engine temps significantly and stuff. And they can be consistent at that. It’s crazy.

Exactly. I’d buy a 981 over a 718 without hesitation solely for the N/A engine, even though the 718 is objectively better in every way. Sports cars - especially those not chasing bleeding-edge performance figures - are primarily about the joy of driving.

Because they aren’t thinking about what’s really going on with the economics. Yeah, cars today are cheaper than they’ve ever been especially when you factor in capabilities and reliability, but unless you’re upper-middle-class or higher, wages are more stagnant than they’ve ever been in your lifetime.
