These concept video game cars are the equivalent of jerking off to anime porn.

Bingo. My feelings exactly. If they’re going to do this, Id rather see more stillborn concepts brought to life so they can be driven in the sim. Those at lease were initially designed with a legitimate hope that someday they’d see production. For instance the Jaguar CX-7. It was tantalizingly close to being in full…
It was ostensibly a render of a car sketch commissioned by Gran Turismo for their own marketing purposes. The design turned a lot of heads and Mercedes humored the public by making a full size mock-up. I’ve knocked around the thing at a tradeshow in germany, it’s not actually a real, engineered car. It’s a mock up at…
No. These are just publicity stunts for, and usually commissioned specifically by Gran Turismo for their own benefit. It is clever marketing for a video game.
Not really. It was a physical concept car (the FT-1) which they then adapted for the video game. Not the other way around.
I genuinely do not understand the point of these. They’re nothings. Literal nothings. Things that cannot and will not ever be produced. Even less relevant that the most outlandish and impossible concept car at an auto show.
Bingo. Id rather them save some budget and leave in the safer barriers if that helps them keep costs down and possibly make money. The financial success of GOOD racing films (not that fast and furious fake-car-guy crap) is the only thing that will get us more. And more is a good thing
Or good data... Mutang dynos are notorious. Jason Cammissa had a technical explanation of why this was a dyno problem and not a juiced C8
On the surface yeah. But if you think about it, it’s pretty clear these rules exist primarily to keep every hot-shoe amateur with access to a fast car from going out and trying to break a record during a touristenfahrten. The ring is dangerous and generally very crowded, people can die.
Of just trail braking down to every apex. Lots of maintenance throttle pre-apex in some of the faster corners. But that might be a function of err-ing on the side of caution in someone else’s very expensive Pista
Yeah, the camera on the front windshield is terrible, even if it has steering telemetry. It’s nice to see the driver inputs and the interaction between that and the car’s attitude and the line. So much more to learn this way
The BMW wishes it looked as cohesive as the Fiesta haha
981 GT4 are dropping down into the high 70k/low 80k range. Easy to pick up ones in that range with 10-20k miles right now. Not cheap, but Id rather have that with with 3 pedals than a C8 optioned up to $88k like the one test car everyone has been running around in.
100% correct.
Oh man, thanks for reminding me of this. Need to go back and watch the full race again. I don’t know this isn’t MORE talked about?
Came here to mention this! Glad you did.
**double AHEM**
Even teenage me back in the mid-90s thought the Supra wing was embarrassing. And I was running around in a lowered honda civic with a greddy exhaust. It was a dad car (because $$$) with a huge wang on the back. Can you imagine being picked up from HS in 9th grade by your dorky dad in that thing with that wing? I…
I prefer to not use them, but now that I live in DC it really saves tons of time since they can see the accidents pop up long before I do. In this insane congestion, one accident can steal an hour of my day from me. Also, I use Waze almost 24/7, but not for nav. It’s really ostensibly the best radar detector/speed…
