Most of the actual change seems to be in the tech they throw in new cars, which now makes them ostensibly subject to moore’s law. The thing is, their native nav and media systems will never beat the one in my pocket that also makes phone calls. This gives me very little reason to upgrade my car. Especially since newer

You’re absolutely right man. I’ve actually been working to convince him to let some go. He has a number of other running semi-project cars that need too much time. Or sell those runners and get to work on these two that have been sitting. He seems like he’s coming around. The 325 is actually in solid shape, just

Who?

You grow up in the 60s? It’s been this way for quite a while

The thing is, DOES IT need to be homologated in a street car? There aren’t any mid-engined 911 running around and yet Porsche is able to legally race the current RSR... The FIA makes me scratch my head sometimes.

Justin Sun loves FF

Honestly, they should just continue to dev battery and motor tech and be a supplier to all the manufacturers duking it out in the segment over the coming decades. Stay out of the bloodbath while stil making a profit

People park cars for the dumbest reasons. Sometimes it’s just a fuse or a battery, but the owner doesnt know know much about cars and money is tight at that moment and tows to shops are $$... And then they get busy, and older, and inertia sets in... Boom. It’s been sitting for years.

And 4100 lbs is the new 3500.

amen

But then you dont even need 500 hp because you literally weigh 1000+ LBS LESS THAN THE LIGHTEST CAR IN THE ARTICLE. Cars are too fat these days.

It is also worth more today... so... yeah. I’d hope you’re correct about +10y

So... 500 hp today with cars that weigh 3800 lbs is more like 400 hp back when performance cars weighed like 3100 lbs. It’s hardy as insane as it looks on paper. It’s just what’s necessary to not make increasingly slow cars when weight goes up 200 lbs each new model iteration.

You’d be surprised how many people get hung up on numbers. A lot of people trade in their car as soon as the warranty is up, and they want the new thing to “seem better” on paper. Usually this comes down to inflating HP and interior space.

Yeah, you need 500hp when the lightest thing here is 3800 lbs. I feel we should stop talking HP and just talk power to weight ratio, it reframes the discussion in this era of fatass cars.

Sure. I’m not suggesting that people who are physically incapable of biking try biking to work... Also I’ve been in more car wrecks than bike accidents. DC has dedicated bike lanes that make it a breeze and about 10x faster than driving during rush hour. Unless the weather makes it impossible, I see people every day

That’s not the point. He suggested walking the 4 miles of the commute instead of biking. I was just pointing out how much of a waste of time that would be when you could just bike it in 20 minutes or add another 40 minutes of commute time by walking. Im sorry your commute is already longer than that. Definitely do not

Nothing really, but thanks anyway

This is me fending off Ubers that drift into the bike lane
