Not sure about our regs, but Europe requires them now. That’s partly why the new Cayman GT4 is heavier and sounds less good (by some people’s ears).

Looks aside, the gt86 engine gets real old real fast. Both the way it sounds and the way it delivers power. An NB feels faster to my butt-dyno. That’s a problem.

I think the Cayman comparo is not a relevant one. Base Cayman is meh, the S is the only one worth considering and it’s a hell of a great car but a hell of a lot more money. I think the Supra is way more compelling than an M2C in every way except the transmission. I also find it way more attractive of a driver’s car

But then you have to drive a Corvette. So there it’s not all upside.

Dude. You should probably fuck-off from Jalopnik and other places that cover this stuff until you’ve seen it. You’re an adult, take responsibility for your shit.

Right. And I totally get why people like creature comforts. Even the most hardened track rat can appreciate a little blast up your backside from an air conditioned seat when puttering through paddock after your 4th session on a 95 degree day. Power folding mirrors is one that just kind of blows my mind. Not useful

DRS has gone too far

Are power folding mirrors really a thing that people want/need? Like, what percentage of C8 buyers will leave this thing parked on a narrow side street in Rome?

Base model includes airbags, windshield wipers, turn signals, low and high beams, and brake lights! Wow, this thing is loaded

And that’s neglecting the 275GTB, 250GT SWB, 250 Monza, 330 P4, or 250 LM

Oof, why $5k for an injector? Did the failure cause other damage to the engine or something? Even if you have to take the engine out to access the injector and the injector costs like $1200, this seems waaaaay high even for a dealer.

Haha right, it’s fun to dream. I kind of stole this idea from Martin Brindle who pointed out how so much of all we were seeing is what happens when teams lack data and have to make old school pit wall calls. But it makes sense and I think it’s worth propagating because as of now I don’t even know it it’s part of the

Gah. Why would anyone in F1's media/promo dept cover up those glorious v8 noises with garbage generic beats... Talk about not understanding what you’re selling. Yikes

If you go and run the same exercise for each of those drivers in your list, you’ll find plenty of examples for each where they had errors, poor performances, times where they struggled to pass, or were beaten by a teammate. All you’ve done is prove that Hamilton is a human racing driver.

Exactly. Virtually zero time to react to an unforeseen event that also triggered a change in strategy. They did just fine considering the circumstances. When this shit happens and you’re no longer operating inside your playbook and you don’t take a little extra time, there is a HUGE probability something bad happens.

Knowing your limitations is the opposite of being a badass, it’s called being a rational, responsible human. Even when it’s written on the internet.

This will be a 2nd big step. We’ve already witnessed the first big step. The Honda units have been more reliable than Renault this season and not worse than Ferrari. Coming from where they were, that’s a HUGE step that they deserve credit for.

Redbull don’t have a faster car than Ferrari, but these results are proving they are a better run team than Ferrari. That’s mighty impressive. If Ferrari can just get their shit together and Redbull keep trending this direction, the rest of the season could be phenomenal.

Listen, it’s not Mercedes fault they function as a team better than anyone else. I’m impressed. It’s mind boggling. Ferrari have arguably the faster car the last 2 years and all they can manage to do is find increasingly creative ways to lose. People need to be more critical of the race teams that are spending

This was bonkers, but I don’t think the racing was anywhere near as good as Silverstone this year. As much fun as calamity can be, I prefer to see world class wheel to wheel racing more than crazy shit.
