I can’t tell you how many times I have scheduled a taxi in ADVANCE for an ass-crack-early flight for work only to have the taxi 45-120 minutes late. Calling the taxi company would give me zero info other than “a taxi is en-route.” I’ve missed flights because I relied on a scheduled taxi.

What killed that service, the 80s recession?

Yeah, it’s not so simple as just comparing $400 vs $200 though. Lots of factors like schedules, minimum number of customers, etc to consider. Having 2 options now (if this is your thing) is not a bad thing.

Taxi drivers (in the pre Uber era) gave no fucks and were scary as shit. I value my life more than my time, so I started taking Uber in the early days so I never had to get in another cab. I guess we all have different perspectives.

Haven’t they been doing this between NYC and the Hamptons in the summers for years?

It ain’t 2003 anymore, these engines are pretty damn tractable. But still, a wide spaced 4spd makes no sense if you want to keep the revs up all the time. not sure wtf OP is on about

Dude, give the Evora another look. It’s lighter than a 911 and costs waaaaaaaay less. Ignore list price. Go in and talk to them. They are cutting deals left and right. You’d be hard pressed to pick up a new Cayman GTS for less.

Sadly, I think you’re right. And the builder knows they aren’t selling to enthusiasts, otherwise he’d just build as many as people were willing to order. This manufactured exclusivity of limiting it to 11 cars is asinine.

Ferrari could 100% sell out a special edition of a few hundred manual cars. No question. There are more than enough billionaire’s kids and inexplicably wealthy “influencers” who actually enjoy driving 3 pedal cars out there to support this.

$600k? That’s peasant special Porsche prices. Ferrari, McL, et al pretty much charge 1m minimum. Except for that hybrid 488 thing, but I think that’s because Ferrari know upcycling a 488 into a hybrid doesn’t add that as much value as something with a v12.

Yeah totally! And Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics make you an artist!

Thank you for making a stand here. The term “science” seems to be conflated with anything having to do with “smart people doing hard stuff.” Not that those people aren’t deserving of high praise in this era of anti-intellectualism. But calling everything “science” detracts from the people who’ve literally dedicated

Right. I still am not seeing the point you’re trying to drive home. I think you’re in agreeance that the regulations did not produce the desired results?

I feel like this site worships the miata. I wear I;ve read praise multiple times for mazda making a new generation of a car both lighter and smaller than the previous one. NDs rule

My same thought! Takes a lot of $ and facilities to “mass” produce a 50k car. He’s looking to make a splash for his brand and raise some $$ for the next car

Something tells me that this car will partially finance development of that car. It’s probably easier to find 90 billionaires (assuming some buyers will want a few in multiple colors lol) to buy the t50 than it is to find 4,000 blokes like us to buy the t43.

Impressive as the engineering is (more impressive than McLaren or Ferrari tbh), the Koenigseggs don’t really do much for me. All respect, but no desire from me, so I can relate to OP.

I was going to link this exact video. 25 years later and it’s still magic. Numbers and performance are calibrated by time and progress, but a phenomenal, interactive driver’s car will always be such.

He’s explicitly said he’s aiming to make this the very best driver’s car, not an F1 (or any kind of race car) for the road. I think the last 25+ years have born out that what makes the F1 great to drive, even to this day, is the purity of the experience, quality of engineering and the clarity of feedback and

As almost always seems to be the case, turbos work better for test mileage than real world mileage. Most owners can’t stay out of boost and still drive the way they want and mileage ends up being no better than a larger n/a engine would be in that same circumstance. I’m really interested to see what kind of mileage
