Yes you pedant, but anyone who knows these cars does not refer to a cabrio as a carrera. A 996 carrera, to anyone with a brain means a 2wd 996. If you have anything else, you say C4, C4s, Targa, Cab, c4 Cab, etc.

Why would it be worth $25k? I paid less than that for it and I’ve put 40k miles on it since then. It’s just a standard 2003 narrow body carrera. Nothing special aside from having much better service records than this car, and not being a convertible.
For sure. SL550 is a great car and there are some deals out there! I bought my 03 carrera in 2015 for $22k with 65k miles. Might have been around the time you were looking. It would be awesome if prices had gone up from there. My most recent point of reference for a 996 real-world value is my buddy selling his 2002…
And why were there so few? It was not a limited series. There were few made because few customers ordered them. So they are rare, but not for a good reason. There are probably only a handful of purple 996 cabrios with tiptronic transmissions in the US. That does not make them more valuable. Also, market price for a…
Maybe things have changed in the last 5 years then. People were asking more for Targas left and right, but the only ones that ever seemed to sell were the ones priced about the same as cabriolets. Which was less than a coupe. This price hierarchy has been true going back deep into the air-cooled cars.
It’s worth noting that Im not intending to insult your car in any way! This has just kind of always been the way the market has judged 911 cabrios and targas since the air cooled days. They’re still fun cars to own. I’d be really interested if things were different suddenly with the 996 all of a sudden. 4 years ago…
I hope I’m wrong. Would be great to see values on the rise for even the unremarkable, high mileage versions with limited service history. What do you suppose this car would be worth if it was a coupe but otherwise identical?
Ignoring BAT (where I’ve seen some bananas prices on 996 cabs), I really think only the best 996 have seen any price increases over the last year. 100k mile 996 in standard spec are a still a dime a dozen and the cabrio is arguably the least desirable one. I love 996, but this is CP.
16k is really the maximum a 991.1 Cabrio with 105k miles is worth, and that’s with good records. $16k should get you a nice 996.1 carrera with equivalent miles, etc. Cabrios (and targas) always go for a discount. Worse to drive and far more costly to fix.
This is not a good price. This is probably the correct price for a Carrera, but targas and cabrios are a dime a dozen and always slow to sell, thus they sell a probably 20% less. Unless something suddenly changed in the last 6 months the 996 cabrio is the one to have lol
Yall are insane. Cabrio is the least desirable config, this thing is a weird mess of choices that make me genuinely question the owners’ judgement. When you buy one of these, 40% of what you’re buying is the previous owner and their thought process on maintaining the car as they should.
Or some ingenuity! You can remove the subframe and jack the car with under $500 worth of jacks.
Well yeah, you need a the right equipment to make nearly any kind of engine drop go quickly/smoothly. But you can actually cradle the 996's engine on the your garage floor and then jack up the body about 3 feet. Many how-tos online for that. My indie Porsche mechanic claims he can drop a 996 engine in 45 minutes in…
It’s not too different now. You can drop a 996's engine in an hour. Which is handy
By weeee bit lower, I mean cut the price in half so I could begin to contemplate making the case to my wife. It was a purely selfish request :B. For Aston’s sake, I hope these are already sold-out by the time I type this. They nailed this thing
Maybe in Europe? Defn never seen this during any track day or autox here, and I’m generally doing 18 events a year, half of those being PCA.
Strange how it does not blink under the hardest braking (straight line) and only during trail braking
Is that the case? I was just watching a couple friends take laps in a GT3 touring a couple weekends ago and this was not the case. Lots of other 991 out there too that weren’t doing this. Also, the blinking here is not happening under the hardest braking, only in the trail braking
This car weighs 209LBS LESS than the regular car!!!! PRAISE BE!!!
THIS, MORE THIS! So smart on Aston’s part. This car is a visceral, irrational, beautiful thing that puts experience before ultimate lap times (even though it’s quite fast). It makes so much sense for it to have a manual trans. It really completes the value proposition for people looking for a fast car that provides a…
