The real surprise of this episode was Joe staying in Germany. I know it's a dumb plot point but I honestly thought the show was going to pull a Xenogears Airship and send Joe back to the US as though nothing had happened. It's, uh, nice? The color grading leans a little too dark and desaturated for my tastes but overall it's obvious the people responsible finished film school and there are some beautiful establishing shots of the Reich and Pacific States.
