It was actually “Nordic Light Oak,” not bamboo. I had that option in my now deceased C30. It looked really good.

I’ve been in India for 3 years. So far I’ve managed to avoid prisons. I think the general situation is grim, but the rich and famous (think politicians, Bollywood stars, cricket players) manage to swing some pretty elaborate special treatment until they get their sentences overturned or commuted.

If the Checker seats are a far cry from a Sprite, how about this (fold away) baby seat on an Indian-made Vespa clone in Rajastham?

We kept a blog: https://holtandmelton.wordpress.com/. “Holt” and “Melton Constable” were the names of our bikes. Thanks for giving me a reason to look at it again. I haven’t gone through our trip write-up for a couple years.

The Horizons Unlimited forum is the best way to get up to date info from recent overland travelers. We followed that and advice from other travelers on the road. It’s probably better real world info than the blanket statements from the US State Department travel warnings.

Two KLR650's got me and my girlfriend/fiancee (we got engaged on the trip and now married) from Denmark to Ghana. 12,000km over about 12 weeks. Load them up and the seat height isn’t as bad. Unloaded they’re manageable on your toes.

Me and Sven.

I’m mourning the Volvo C30 in general and my Volvo C30 specifically. When I bought my C30 in 2008, it was both the fastest car and the cheapest car that Volvo made. It was the first car I bought new and I loved and named it Sven.

I wish.

So finding the opposite of yesterday’s TJ only required a short trip from Norway to Denmark.

Jason,

They were in the mid 20's at launch. It was under 26K including the trip to Sweden for European delivery.

The clutch engagement is a bit awkward, but you get used to it. I love driving the C30.

Was the S40 actually Focus based? I thought it was the other way around and Ford used a modified version of the Volvo platform in the Focus.

I did buy a C30. My first new car after college. I love it. If you’re willing to put Volvo in the “Luxury” category. It was literally the cheapest car sold by any of the European or Japanese high end brands back in 2008. It was also the fastest car 0-60 that Volvo made at the time (after the demise of the V70R and

Yeah, but me and the tuk-tuk both live in India.
