I’ve offered to let Jason drive it, but he already made his trip to India. My other car here is a 1990 Premier Padmini with a 1,370cc diesel engine and column shifter. It's basically a 1962 Fiat 1100 Delight made on Indian manufacturing lines until 2000. I need to document this stuff better.

No Way!

I have wanted that concept since I was in high school! A high school boy wanted a minivan! I still want it. I’m not a modern VW fan. I don’t care. Where is that Fry “Take My Money” pic when you need it?

So... Are there any other Jalopnik readers who actually own one of these besides me? So far no hooning, just painting. Driving in India is crazy enough as it is.

And walking around is like Frogger.

I’m a foreigner who drives (and lives) in India. Video game driving sequences every day!

I had a vegetarian friend here say that she made that mistake. ONCE. And so had some of her friends. ONCE!

As an American living in India, I will say that there are lots of restaurants here that have cheeseburgers on the menu and if you order a cheeseburger, you will get a slab of paneer between two halves of a bun (not every restaurant here, but enough of them).

I got my first IDP to drive in Denmark. I grew up in Florida, where I got my license at 16. My dad is from Denmark, where the driving age is 18. When I was visiting him there, he wouldn’t have let me drive at 16 without the IDP. But I had it and he did, much to the annoyance of my 17 year old step sister.

I’m 90% sure that Australia requires a license in English or a foreign license with translation if not. I don’t think I needed the IDP to rent a motorcycle there. I know an official license in English is enough in New Zealand, since the campervan company made that really clear on their website.

Or call their bluff and finish the deal. When my mom bought her old CR-V back in ‘99, the dealer tried to up-charge her on pinstripes.

Hey Máté! Check out Forevermap2 and PocketEarth for iphone (and maybe android). Both use open street map data and you can download countries or regions to your phone when you’re on wifi. Forevermap does offline routing and PocketEarth does elevation, nearby searches (hotels, food, gas, etc). Both served me and my wife

Jason, what car did you use in the top image gif? It looks an awful lot like my Indian 1992 Premier Padmini (aka re-badged 1962 Fiat 1100D)
