I haven’t felt able to call a new one since then. Thankfully my primary care physician asked why I hadn’t had a pap smear recently and when I told her a bad experience had made me kinda afraid of going she said she can do it for me. So I actually have an appointment to do that soon. She is the best :)

There are some seriously conservative ob/gyns out there. I found out the hard way that mine was Catholic.

Barf :(

I love this. Part of me wants to do the same thing when my sorry excuse for a male parent dies. I think we’ll just ignore it entirely though, unless one of us has to claim the body or something. He’s got enough kids out there, more than we know, so hopefully one of them gets that phone call. He can have the world’s

I was a cashier in Appalachia for six years and I never saw SNAP fraud. If it’s really happening at the rate some commenters say it is, surely they have ample opportunity to look up how to report fraud and start doing so. But something tells me it’s not.

Here’s what I would say to every person commenting now that they know so many people who abuse the system - Report it! If you are indeed seeing this rampant abuse, as a cashier or just from people in your family or your community, by all means, report them. Then we’ll see it reflected in the data.

Ha, well so have plenty of presidents, so you’re not alone there. Plenty of criticism related to the fact that we’re not supposed to have any lords or ladies in America.

The presidents that come to mind just off the top of my head are Pierce and Truman but to be honest I’m at work so I’m not going to spend more than a minute thinking about it.

It’s unusual now, but historically, it’s not. 45 presidents total, right? We’ve had 13 non-spouse first ladies, mostly in the 1800s. But if you expand that to all the non-spouses who’ve ever acted as White House hostess, not just the ones who did it regularly, it goes up to 22. 22 non-spouse first ladies vs. 45

Hmm, I thought I had read about an early 19th century president’s mother acting as hostess but a quick google now isn’t giving me any results so it may have been an aunt or other female relative I was thinking of. There have been plenty of daughters, though.

Yeah, there’s nothing wrong with the first lady being a daughter instead of a wife in my opinion. In recent years it’s always been a wife but there have been plenty of times when the first lady has been the president’s mother, sister, niece, etc. The honorary title just refers to whoever the White House hostess is,

Typically the earlier you file, the shorter your wait on the refund, too. I filed Jan 31st and got my federal refund deposited in my account this morning :D

Actually grounding exercises are clinically proven to help some people and they’re commonly recommended by therapists. I’ve never heard about them being able to help with depression but for anxiety, yes, they can be helpful. Not everything will help every person but it is worth trying. I get severe dissociation

Yep. It’s not going to work for everyone but it can be worth a try. I have anxiety-related dissociation problems and grounding is very, very helpful for me.

He used to be on the show Eureka, on syfy. I’m kinda bummed for him that all he can find lately is Maytag commercials and made for tv hallmark channel movies, since he is a talented actor. But I have to admit I also love those ads.

You know that guy smells like the forest. And that hot flannel shirt probably comes right off once he starts cleaning and works up a sweat.

Personally I think all household items should be advertised with handsome men. It’s kinda the least they can do until we finish tearing down the patriarchy and end the “second shift,” right? Right.

There’s no way, because it’s so clearly insane. It’s still a very bad sign, though.

Yes, it was King.

I really, really want a second season for this. It’s a delightful show.
