Culkin has been great on those RLM appearances. As far as remakes go, I’m not sure they’ll find a kid as good as he was in that film. He’s been a punchline for a long time, but few kids that young could have carried a film that way.

Only 8 Star Wars movies? So that’s the four post-Lucas flicks, the prequels and ... Caravan of Courage?
I had no recollection of Cool Cat so I googled it. This is the image I got.
Isn’t it actually going to be The Phantom Menace? Mike refers to the “most popular” film of the year.
What about Adam Sandler’s The Ridiculous Six? Oh wait, that was also a joyless slog.
Also, it’s Australia. It’s not “the woods”, it’s “the bush”!
Pigman, baby, pigman!
The first Dragonlance book I read was the prequel The Legend of Huma. I remember it being a pretty good standalone story. Maybe they could start with something like that and build up to the Chronicles if it succeeds.
If they’re going to make a TV show from a Richard Curtis rom-com, why not Love Actually? After all, the movie was just a half dozen undercooked ideas mashed together. They could actually give the stories some depth.
“Word of warning. Over there they call them ‘fanny packs’...”
I can’t believe someone else’s favourite quote from the The Office is “I prefer a flan”. Of all the great lines on that show, that’s the one I quote all the time. Already liked Simpson as an actor, but now I love him!
Has there ever been a better, more timeless teen angst album than the Violent Femmes’s debut? I’ve seen them live a few times in recent years, and they keep putting out new records, but they still play at least half of that debut in their set.
I’m not so sure about that. Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz are far more than footnotes.
Yes! Salute of the Jugger was the title in Australia (where it was filmed) and I remember seeing the trailers when it first came out (possibly on VHS rentals as coming attractions). I was shocked to discover the terrible alternative title. So generic.
The Shield’s been on my list for a long time. I think it just climbed up a few spots. I watched the first few episodes of Justified but didn’t get into it - should I persevere? (I did the same with Breaking Bad but eventually came back)
“No one has plotted out an entire series in advance and stuck to their vision and I don’t think it’s possible to do so.”
Spot on. I felt it ended exactly as it should have over the last few episodes, but Fring should have been there as the antagonist right to the end. The bikers just felt tacked on - Walt’s final showdown was with characters we’d never seen until that season. That said, Jesse Plemons was great.
Wait, The Jerk also had a rape scene? Or The Jerk, Too also had a rape scene?
A common test is “did the perpetrator know/believe the victim had not given consent”. Lewis knew she didn’t know it was him. Under Australian law at least, that would pretty clearly make it rape.
Young Frankenstein is still beloved yet contains a straight-up rape scene and the victim ends up enjoying it. I still love the film but rewatching that scene ... urgh.
