Yes, it does.
Yes, it does.
Fry’s Turkish Delight and the stuff you get in Turkish and Greek restaurants are different though. I hate the former but quite enjoy the latter.
We get it, you hate a movie you haven’t seen.
The inspiration for Samwise Gamgee is there, though not sure how true it is.
This kind of sounds like the Cohen brothers’ Hail Caesar!, another film about old Hollywood that has a lot of enjoyable sequences, but doesn’t add up to much.
Ha! I remember seeing this in theatres, Vinnie gets killed and I was thinking “hang on, there are scenes from the trailer Travolta is in that we haven’t seen yet! How can this be?!”
And Steve’s first baseball bat scene was th highlight of season 1! More Steve!
Yes, I felt the same way - he was a pointless character in season 2. So in a way I’m hoping they do something with him. I was waiting for the reveal of a tattoo that said “Five” or something to explain why he’s such a prick (plus there’s the military connection) but I guess that’s not happening.
At least you’ve solved whose coffee cup that was in episode 4.
I’m not a Frenchy! I’m a Belgy!
I don’t think there are many actors today that can “open” a movie the way the big names of the 80s and 90s did.
I don’t know that I can name a favourite Keanu role as much as a favourite Keanu movie (and even then it’s hard). The thing about Keanu is, much like Arnie, he’s not a great actor - but he has an amazing screen presence. In an era where movie stars are dead, Keanu still is one.
This meme immediately made me think of the prequels, too. But we didn’t demand they be remade. As you say - we just bitched about them for a while, then never watched them again.
I think it’s fine for them to not like something. It’s fine for them to complain about it, too. Where it gets ridiculous is them wanting it to be re-done to fit whatever warped vision they had in their heads.
I’ve been watching WW2 In Colour on Netflix and there’s a great moment about that where two soldiers are walking past a row of tanks, when one guy turns and flips a tank over. It was one of the fake inflatables, but you don’t notice until he suddenly does that.
A Dark Knight’s Dream
My favourite example of this is the reverse - a British character speaking like an American. In an episode of Frasier, Daphne refers to her “fanny”. I cannot believe the actress didn’t insist they change that, as fanny means something else in the UK.
Added to my list. Thanks!
In Australia, Netflix doesn’t have The Office OR Friends OR Disney, all of which are on the local rival, Stan (that’s its name). Stan also has Seinfeld. Yet Netflix still has about double the number of subscribers here.
A.V. Club, I hope you realise Alex Jones will be sharing this story as fact with his listeners shortly.
