True. In a later episode (Bart Sells His Soul), Bart even jokes about it, saying a soul is “ just something parents made up to scare children, like the boogeyman or Michael Jackson.” So it’s not like they didn’t think it was possible he was guilty way back in 1995.

Pegg’s Mr Scott was the only casting in the reboot I didn’t like. He just felt too much like an over the top comic relief, which Scotty never was (well, maybe in some later movies). And it felt on the nose in Beyond, which Pegg co-wrote, that he gave his own character at lot more to do, including the sort of action…

I guess the problem is that he enjoys punishing people. So he encourages bad behaviour to get more people down to hell that he can then torture. I dunno. I never went to church. Most of my knowledge of Satan cones from old Looney Tunes cartoons.
