My husband wears low Converse on the rare occasions he’s near a body of water, similar to other people who have mentioned Vans. It requires a willingness to brush/dry your feet before re-donning, which hasn’t been a problem. Some people are just never in a situation where they’re dashing off to a wet activity.

Pre-instagram I worked with a woman who had a physical cork bulletin board in her office full of hard copy printed out glossy like at the foto mat goddamn toes-on-vacation pics. Same adult feet in the same vacation location, over and over like part of a serial killer profile.

You can tell how lowbrow my TV standards are. My mind immediately went to the reality shows I watch where white Americans in the mountains of Tennessee hunt ginseng, or people from the midwest shop for foreign spouses online. Their English is fine, but they need to be subtitled because they simply don’t form words

Thank you for the aside on Steve Martin. He’s been such a huge favorite of mine since I was a kid in the 1970s, and I’ve been afraid to ask or wonder.

Who is the guy below Miss Chanandler Bong and the Rachel? It looks just like my brother and it’s driving me nuts. Behind Jay-Z and Kendrick Lamar. This is my favorite piece of sports art since the graphic of the Golden Knights’ Stanley Cup championship from last year.

Yes!! Thank you!

And congratulations, DD42, I’m mortified that I was just all HERE IS SOME INFO ABOUT ME. I really was thinking in terms of YOU will have a blast, it souds like you already are!

I’m not a theater person (too self-conscious), but I come from them. They love fiercely and entertain endlessly and a lot of the time I wish I didn’t live half the country away from my family and our extended theater family. They always have something going on, and their enthusiasm is infectious.

Marc Almond’s cover. One of the great things about being a semi-obsessive but ultimately lazy Marc Almond fan is the endless list of originals to discover, many of which you guys post here. As always, this version of Marc’s shows love for the source.

I have two little tattoos that are Wood illustrations from MAD’s “Flesh Garden!” feature. Love those guys and the artists from the 60s and 70s, I have a small collection of other stuff by some of them.

Thank you for getting back to me, that’s even the same reasoning I’ve used when I’ve tried to point that out. I have a rusty old English degree, and every formerly incorrect thing that becomes “acceptable” through repetition on the internet is like sitting on a tack.

Will you weigh in on something I see a lot on another blog?

I forgot who the director was until she mentioned him at the end, and my main takeaway from the review was that it was such an angry review of what seems like one of Danny Boyle’s specialties, a mostly lighthearted music-y romp.

I love Velvet Goldmine on so many levels, it’s one of my favorite movies ever. The original music is so good, such a fantastic choice to have Shudder to Think do the Maxwell Demon songs. I think I need a rewatch this weekend.

Control is sooooooo good. On a lighter note is 24 Hour Party People, which might not exactly be a biopic but is beyond entertaining.

I haven’t watched NJ in so long and I really enjoyed this read of the cast, I kind of miss them now! Loved your description of Kathy’s weirdo husband.

I’m going to pretend I’m doing this right now! For free!

I’m cheap and I don’t trust any motherfucker, and I’ve physically seen “good” scammers recognize this and back off. But these were low-level MLM types, I’m sure there’s something huge I’m under the spell of.

Is it weird that I kind of look forward to wasting a lot of this boring rainy day trying to figure out which scams I’m falling for right now?
