Thank you. This is exactly what I wanted to say but couldn’t put into words. I’ve ecstatic for Leslie Jones, and I hope this leads her to being a major star. But, I was SO disappointed in the movie trailer. I hope the character portrayals in the movie itself are better.

Agreed. I mean if this is supposed to be progressive the main three characters did not even have to be white women. There isn’t a reason there couldn’t have been an Asian or Latina. This is lazy at best.

Exactly. Look at Winston. He wasn’t “street smart” or a ghetto like Leslie’s character is. He was just a blue collar worker they hired because they needed more man power. Leslie is a caricature of a loud, uneducated, black woman from the ghetto.

I guess that depends on how serious you were being about assessing the scientific virtues of a movie about wrangling ghosts into electrified shoe boxes?

I hope at least you aren’t practicing Venkman-style parapsychology. :-P

That’s true. I think, though, that Spengler’s work is what allows most of the ghost busting to happen. Without his packs and traps, none of the work would’ve even been possible.

I don’t disagree at all— but stumbling on to good results using bad methods doesn’t mean you’re good at science per se. You just got lucky. Even then, confirming of results requires confirmation, which usually requires continued experimentation with similar controls and so on. Blah blah blah.

Except that everything they said turned out to be true and all the science they practiced actually worked. Except for that they were frauds?

I think the fact that a black person is the “uneducated” Ghostbuster again is actually fueling the controversy.

Some people feel differently about it.

It’s a somewhat odd controversy considering that Winston Zeddemore, the character played by Ernie Hudson in the original films, becomes a Ghostbuster without having any scientific background and just having answered a classified ad. He even says in the movie when asked if he believes in the paranormal “If there’s a

I’m a female. I like sports. But it seems like everyday I hear a story about how trivialized women are in sports, in sports “relationships", and now, even broadcasting. dammit.

Mine, too.

I’m fucking done with this state.

yup

I have 3 windows devices and a MacBook. It’s a 2011 MacBook and a 2011 Windows Desktop. The desktop is definitely slower, but I attribute this to a HDD rather than SSD being in the device. =/

Yes we women are people too.

You know there is a lot of evidence for that.

Kanye West doesn’t care about women people.
