We saw Wonder Woman. Nothing else looked good the next time we went to the theater so we were happy to give our money to Wonder Woman again. No Regrets!

Me too girl! FWIW - I have found a lovely and welcoming community among Episcopals, and those folks walk the walk.

Tangentially related - The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island hosts a “Somewhere in Time” weekend once a summer. It includes a costume parade. It is always strikes me as such a bizarre trip for people to take but folks definitely shell out major money to attend annually.

Raising hand to say “me too” - I took it exactly as you did. Particularly the comment about women “sheetcaking once a week since the election.” and it felt shameful because it is true. I am eating my feelings and my stress on the regular, partly because it is hard to rock the boat with friends and relatives. But in

Thumbs up to your entire, well written post. I just had a heartbreaking conversation with a family member that basically exactly reflected what you wrote. And these are not people who read storm front or anything distinctly alt-right - just older, Fox watching, church goers.

In our conversation it all came down to

I am not a big fan - especially when she interviews musicians. I remember cringing while listening to her interview Sondheim once. I often feel that 30% of what she says sounds like she’s trying to show off.

She was also WONDERFUL in the Little Dorrit mini-series several years ago.

I totally get this (and congrats on your loss!) but I tend towards occasional binging (especially related to work stress) and have been known to buy a pint of the salted caramel ahead of time when I know I’m going to have a rough day. Then I eat the whole thing and I’ve only had 300 calories or so and I’ve satisfied

My fun theory is that Cersei will kill Tyrion which will finally lead to Jaime realizing he has to take her out. Then Jaime gets to kill a mad king AND a mad queen and he can go off and marry/have roadtrips with Brienne because that was my favorite “buddy” story line..

+1 to what Diglett says and isn’t CA a community property state in divorces? Farris was on a hot streak in the early aughts. Additionally, if they had any real estate it would have to be sold or a sum settled on. Not hard to see how a solid B list actor might pay out a million in a communal property state.

This happened to me when I moved to Ohio! I looked back over my lease and I had clearly signed off on the item that said I would be responsible for utilities which would be billed from the apartment complex. But was shocked at how much more that actually cost. Bought a house and my utilities went down dramatically

Amen! My 10 year old Ektorp sofa is still going strong and the removable/washable/replaceable slip covers are a godsend with children and pets.

starred for “Money Never Sleeps” - nice touch.

This actually made me start to cry - because I think it is true (and I still can’t hear Sandy Hook without crying.)

As far as “conspiracy theory twitter” goes- I’ve switched to reading Claude Taylor, his sources seem solid and he is 3-4 weeks ahead of the news agencies on stuff. Louise may even be right on some her reporting (as you said, she was pretty solid a couple of months ago) but her feed is almost impossible to follow.

There was a wonderful book written with just that title, “All Joy, No Fun” and it was a very good parenting read.

thank you for your updates!

Lordy - I want to grow up to be Maxima. She is 100% my style icon.
