There are places in the US where hats will not get you a side eye. I lived in NC for several years and became a hat wearer. I moved to NW Ohio and people think my hats are weird- whatever! I also became a fan of Easter while living down south- there is nothing like a southern Easter fashion parade. New Orleans also

Thank you for this comment. I spend more time than I once would have thought possible trying to explain systemic race issues to my “concerned” family members who “just don’t see race”. Your post is a beautifully succinct way to put a stop to the that nonsense when they bring it up. I hope you don’t mind if I use it.

My uncle works at Carrier and the seasoned union employees knew the score months ago. No one was shocked that the “saved” jobs were mostly jobs that were never being moved to Mexico in the first place (engineers, sales, admin) and that the 7 million would go to automate the plant (and further reduce manufacturing

aww- thank you! Jezzies are the best.

Good to know - thanks!

One of my senators is considered an “on the fence” vote (Portman- OH). I’ve been calling for days and have never gotten through. His local office always has a busy signal and his DC office goes straight to voicemail. I feel like I’m screaming into the wind.

Yasss Cliff Curtis!! I remember seeing him in Three Kings and that awful Capra-esque Jim Carry movie and thinking he was SO handsome.

Thanks - I chortled at this.

I admit I’m scared of clowns but I love Ikea. I have an Ektorp sofa and loveseat that are going strong at 9 and 11 years (and I’ll keep them until my pre-schoolers age out of destroying furniture) and I bought an ikea farm table off of craigslist years ago and it is still in great shape. I suspect that it is about 15

Will do- I’ve got an email in to the guidance counselor at the high school to see if there is already an existing scholarship fund/way to donate. I’ll definitely post to Jez if there is a way to make this happen. Thanks for the idea!!!

I LOVE that these kids came up with this and did this themselves. That takes effort and initiative and is just frankly awesome. Also - your idea of starting a fund is actually great. I just kicked an email to some friends in the mid-atlantic area to see if any are interested in throwing in some funds for these kids.

My take was that his denial was pretty specific - he pretty much said he could not recall having conversations with Russian officials about interfering in the election. That doesn’t mean he didn’t have a conversation about lifting sanctions or similar - it could just mean that no one specifically mentioned a quid pro

me too! I shuddered because the second time he said it with real emphasis.

I am 100% here for the Dr. Murry version of Chris Pine. Good Lord.

I agree! All three of those actors are lovely and I like all of them but they weren’t a great addition to the show.

I saw the headline and simply had to scroll down and say, emphatically, “Yes!”. As much as I love Billy Zane, he and Heather Graham are 100% not necessary in season 2 and only served to further convolute an already falling apart season.

I totally agree! You can’t convince me that anything about Zombie Sayid had anything to do with character. Lost was fun for a while because of the fun plot twists but the “It was all about the characters” justification for the finale was bunk. I loved the Leftovers so much and wonder if the conceit of Tom Perrota’s

My super conservative in-laws were up in arms about this and I got a chance to say “I thought state rates were the most important?” and I was so happy.

I weirdly knew people that were thrilled that Pence was the VP on the ticket because he couldn’t run for governor of IN again. He was that bad of a governor - But then they went and voted for Trump. Indiana, home of some of the most convoluted thinking in the union :)
