I’ve only had one lease, but the dealer I bought it from (and returned it to) did a visual inspection. They were looking for any cosmetic damage bigger than 2", and even though I had a hole in my front bumper cover that was caused by a dumbass deer, since it was less than 2" in diameter I wasn’t dinged for it.
