2nd Gear: VW is actually correct in this case. EGR has an operating range, and it’s not at all uncommon for the EGR valve to be closed when it’s really cold or when atmospheric pressure is low.

Probably a simple air pressure sensor.

Same situation with my wife. She bought her first Miata after we started dating. I had 2 cars at the time and it just never occurred to her one person can own more than 1 car :)

Neutral: I also was late the Miata party. When I went out looking for my early mid-life crisis toy, I scoffed at the Miata. Want something with more power. A V6 at least. So I bought something made by GM. A year later I decided it was a miserable car to drive every day and it was falling apart, anyway, so I wanted

1st: Stupid is as stupid does. Elon is in many respects a genius, but his reliance on endless hype will catch up to him - if it isn’t already. NHSTA is 100% correct on this one. Calling something “Full Self Driving” when it clearly isn’t is asking for disaster.

OR maybe we could get the Federal Trade Commission to start doing their job and crack down on companies who use words wrongly.  Like Full Self Driving for a product that doesn’t fully self drive.  Or the use of the word ‘Unlimited’ when there are in fact limits.

“Cruise Control Plus”

I think he should just call it “Not Full Self Driving ;) 42069"

Neutral: Trucks. I didn’t understand why anyone would want to drive a truck until I drove a truck. Now I own a truck. I have other cars too, but having a truck is nice.

1st: Musk’s insistence on overhyping his products is going to be his undoing. I get that he doesn’t want to call it some boring jargony thing but if he had just not called it “Autopilot” but something else Tesla would be having few problems at the moment.

Either Musk is wrong or the world is populated by pedos...

I mean, to be fair...

I suppose the better question is what bizarre world are you living in?

Subaru just can’t give people the car they want. Of course they have to take something away.

I had a 2010 wrx, and I currently drive a 2018.

At least the Crosstrek is a hatch.

I’m stunned, absolutely stunned. They took all the horrible styling of the last-gen Civic and added cheap plastic cladding around the wheels.

Sigh. I can’t even bring myself to hate the design. Cladding, puckered asshole of a rear...whatever. At least it looks like it will be available in a couple of actual colors.

This feels like a phoned-in effort that’s basically a step away from saying “screw this, we’re all-in on SUVs”, which would be sad given Subaru’s place in history as a purveyor of affordable AWD automobiles.

Jalopnik 1st Gear on Monday:
GM Files suit against Subaru for IP infringement due to excessive use of ABS body cladding on new WRX.
