As a bi male married to a bi female I got my fair rasher of well I guess you aren’t bi... crap when we got married.

You are right about Colin Farrell. He makes you root for a father struggling as a failed husband and father. But I would even be willing to sacrifice him if it meant one less character to keep up with. And that’s sad television viewing when you’re willing to sacrifice the healthy leg.
Every time Vince Vaughn is onscreen I get drowsy. A supercut of all his scenes would be the perfect cure for my insomnia.
It’s even worse than that. He wrote it with Vince Vaughn in mind! That’s his idea of tailoring a character to the performer. It is a complete fucking mystery to me how this guy gets work. Ok, not a complete mystery, I think he’s got the right touch of macho bullshit in his personal presentation that industry people…
I think Ian McShane is the only actor who could pull off Frank’s dialogue. If your writing requires a one in a million match with the actor (just like McConaughey in the first season), it’s just not good writing.
Couldn’t agree more. As much as I like Colin Farrell, killing him off early would have been bold as hell and would have provided the opportunity for tighter, more focused storytelling.
First season was lean with characters and subplots, so you could keep up with the main plot. This season is drowning in too many characters and subplots, like your typical prime time drama. Every actor wants screen time, and it takes for-fucking-ever to move the story along. The one relief I had about episode 2 of…
For as laughable and painful as this season has been (someone teach Vince Vaughn not to ‘deliver’ his lines and just speak them like a normal person, pls), she has been amazing. Like really, truly amazing.
My theory is that Pizzolatto isn’t actually that good of a writer. He got real lucky last year with the one/two punch of McConaughey and Harrelson and how dynamite their chemistry and weirdness was. Plus as said above, the ‘beautiful genius’ left the show and that was some beautiful directing.
Kelly Reilly is so, so lovely but they are wasting her talent.
But would you really point to the direction as the reason this season isn’t as satisfying? I think it’s been completely adequate. The usually crappy writing (if you think Season 1 was well written, you’re crazy and need to watch it again) and not-as-amazing acting are to blame.
People who think Season 1 was super serious and arty and good need to go back and watch all of Season 1. It had a veneer of arty and a facade of super serious but by the end of the season revealed itself to be what it always was (and what Season 2 is) — trashy pulp entertainment. No number of McConaughey speeches…
Rust and Marty were written so much better. I think everybody this season is doing a pretty good job acting, but Woody and Matt were better, and how can you beat lines like this:
This season still sucks but I feel like at least maybe now they’re getting somewhere? I dunno. I’m stubborn as hell and will hate-watch it to the end no matter what.
Mcadams and Farrell are doing their best with shit material. Riggins is the least interesting closted war vet I’ve ever seen, and Vince Vaughn is saying Al swearengen lines like Vince Vaughn. You crazy for this one, pizza!
Awwwwww poor little monkey! At least she got adopted!
yup if the dog has been living on the streets most of their life they are pretty sly and don’t want to be caught because they are afraid. my dog was living semi feral on the street for 2 years before he was injured and someone trapped him in their garage.
She may have been trying to befriend the dog slowly. Street dogs can be wary of people and take a lot of time (or getting stuck in a tire) to be able to catch.
Aw, glad she got a forever home out of the deal!
That makes sense.
