There’s also history to consider. Do they want to go down as the people that helped cover up the crimes and treason, or do they want to be remembered as the person that helped reveal them and do the right thing?
It’s less cool now when some dork is shambling down the middle of the narrow sidewalk staring at his phone trying to catch pocket monsters and blocking people going both ways trying to get somewhere.
Thanks, that’s what I was trying to get at. Why did Baquet feel the need to address the whistleblower’s credibility when the only people questioning it are bad-faith propagandists and hacks that lack credibility themselves?
I wouldn’t rule out that they were doing a favor for one of their favorite White House sources. It’s pretty well known in DC that Mags and Baker will disseminate White House talking points as reporting to maintain their precious access.
IGNORE EVERYTHING ELSE, I’VE DISCOVERED A HYPOCRISY!!
I work closely with reporters in DC. With the information that the NYT provided about the whistleblower, they might as well have published his name and photo.
They didn’t have to publish the op-ed, though, and since it was anonymous its news value was extremely questionable.
Baquet’s explanation makes some sense in a world where these accusations of political bias are being made in good faith.
It still wouldn’t be great, but it’s unlikely he’d do shit like rolling back decades of EPA protections for really no real reason.
I think that’s where his stupidity and laziness come into play.
I wouldn’t have felt that way about, say, Cruz or Rubio, despite how disgusting they are.
The only things he values in life are the things he can use for personal advancement. It is a zero-sum appraisal, too — something either has value (I can use this for my benefit) or no value (I cannot use this).
Each day they creep ever closer to openly admitting and embracing that they are a propaganda network.
He is a caricature of the all the terrible stupid people you’ve ever argued with online, rolled into one pilled out angry Boomer.
That’s how fascists roll.
It amazes me how people refuse to understand that polls are a snapshot in time, not a forecast. Yes, they can be used to try to predict what may happen, but a poll that says Candidate X is up by 10 points in August is not wrong just because Candidate X ends up losing in November.
I laughed out loud yesterday watching CNN’s coverage of the whistleblower stuff. Within an hour, I shit you not, they had a reporter talking to a Trump voter in some central Pennsylvania diner, asking him if he thought Democrats were overreaching in trying to impeach the president.
I generally just skip over the articles on here about stuff I don’t care about or like, but you do you.
I honestly don’t understand how Nunes is still allowed to be on that committee.
